Review ~ Beauty and the Blitz by Sosie Frost

Book Description:

Shatter the slipper. Spit out the apple. Fall for The Beast.

All-star linebacker Cole Hawthorne is a beast on the field, destroying offenses one broken quarterback at a time. Though he’s a gifted athlete, his violent reputation makes him a liability to his team and a villain in the league.

As Cole’s agent, it’s my responsibility to convince the brooding loner that being traded is better than getting banished from the game. If he loses his contract, this single mom is out of a job.

So, it’s up to me to tame the beast.

But the closer I get to the ferocious monster, the harder I fall for the passionate man underneath. He’s crude and charming. Tough and sweet. Dangerous…but even he can’t resist my baby’s giggle.

Denying my feelings might protect my heart, but the trading deadline is closing in. When Cole reveals the dirty truth about the trade, I can’t let the league rip us apart.

Do I save my career…or do I protect a man who deserves a happily ever after?

Maybe no one can love a beast…
But they haven’t met Cole Hawthorne.

“I can’t promise you a happily ever after…fuck, I’m still working on this once upon a time.”

All you ladies…protect your ovaries because if you pick up this book they are more than likely to combust. Swoon, swoon and more swoon. There is nothing more heart melting than a man and a kid, especially when said man is 6ft 6, built like a tank and doesn’t believe he is worthy of love let alone the love of a child. While this kid wasn’t his, the way he welcomed her into his life was nothing short of amazing and the change in him as a person was a beauty to read about.

“Christ. Three days ago I broke a man’s back. In what universe did Piper think it was a good idea to bring a baby to me? I couldn’t be trusted around anything that required a soft touch. My body…wasn’t capable of gentleness.”

This book is hilarious too, I had tears of laughter throughout, mainly at the hands of said man trying to adapt to child proofing and just having a kid around in general. Sosie Frost really hits the nail on the head throughout this book and her sense of humour came across fantastically in her writing. It truly was hysterical, any mum will be able to relate and even if you are not I am sure that you will find this book highly entertaining. But, and this is a huge BUT, this was so much more than just a laugh out loud book, this was a book that had one of the cutest and most beautiful love stories I have read in a long time.

“…but who the fuck were they protecting when they turned the appliance into some Acme-grade Wile E. Coyote deadfall trap? Great. The baby was safe, but the linebacker was nearly a pancake. The house wasn’t baby-proofed. It was booby-trapped.”

Piper Madison was a single mum who had become a statistic through one mistake. Having to forego her college life was a small price to the pay for the love of her daughter and Rose was one mistake that she would never regret. Piper was now working for her father at his sports agency, usually as a gopher but it made enough money to keep a roof over their heads…just, however, her father needed her to do a job that had the potential to promote her but failure was not an option, if she failed, she was fired. Piper’s mission was to get Cole Hawthorne, the dirtiest player in the league to agree to a trade, a trade he didn’t want.

Cole Hawthorne was “The Beast,” he was 6ft 6 of pure muscle, was highly motivated, tunnel visioned for victory and took no prisoners. He really was a beast on the field and was highly feared by all his opponents. While there was never any malice behind his actions, sometimes just the pure force and the adrenaline behind one of his tackles knocks a man for six, causes injuries and the powers that be wanted him out of the league. He was perceived as “dirty” when in fact he was just highly motivated and focused. Football was everything to Cole, he lived and breathed it but more importantly, everything to do with football was his outlet. An outlet for all his issues especially his anger. He would work himself to the point of exhaustion just to be able sleep and he was a loner, he kept himself to himself. But underneath that hard, brash, unapproachable exterior was a man with a heart of gold who had the propensity to love like no other. Cole just needed to believe it so that he could find it. When Piper Madison knocks on his door, Cole Hawthorne may have just met his match…nothing more determined than a mama bear protecting her young.

“Linemen feared me. Running backs avoided me. Receivers hated me. And quarterbacks? I scattered those pretty boys over the goddamned field. I was stronger than them. Faster than them. I knew the plays they’d call, and I loved when they pissed their pants as they read my blitz.”

Piper was seemingly on “mission impossible,” Cole was as stubborn as hell and erected every single wall he had to keep her out as well as her stupid ideas and recommendations. Cole had his reasons but he keeps everything to himself and doesn’t let anyone in. Piper, however, was persistent and slowly but surely her tenacity was getting to Cole, they both begin to open up and when babysitter problems introduce Rose into the mix all bets are off.

The change in Cole was seriously breath taking, for a man so jaded and a man who actually hated himself and what he perceived he had become, to see the change in him as Piper and Rose seamlessly embed themselves into his daily life was truly heart-warming. Cole needed to believe in himself and more importantly believe that he was worthy of love in all shapes and forms. Having never had it, he never knew what he was missing until it hit him in the shape of Piper and Rose.

“The world encouraged me to become The Beast until they realized they’d created a monster. And monsters didn’t get to make love.”

I swooned a lot, I wanted to jump into the kindle and give Cole the biggest hugs, he was a beautiful man on the inside and out and just needed his eyes and heart opened to realise it. Sosie Frost captured this perfectly and as this man transforms before your very eyes you cannot help but champion him on. Piper was exactly what Cole needed, she didn’t take his crap, she called him out, but she always had his best interests at heart. These two made a fantastic team.

“I want to fuck you until you beg for mercy…and I want to pleasure you until you beg for more.”

I loved everything about this book, I ran the gamut of emotions, I laughed and I cried, I felt everything. I lived their lives for the duration, I was a voyeur looking in and I didn’t want to leave. The sex scenes were intense, emotional and seriously hot, every feeling was conveyed perfectly through words and really added that extra layer of character connection.

“I don’t see any beast here.”
“No?”
“I only see the man I love.”

I will warn you that when you download this book there are an extra two books included, two full sized novels, so on the kindle this book finished at about 34%. I was gutted…I thought this was one really long book and I had a lot of time left with them. Beautiful story, hilarious too, I just loved it.

Five months ago I threw caution to the wind, and in the first miscalculated step of my twenty-one-year life, I made a move on my brother’s best friend.

The first mistake we made was keeping our relationship secret. The next was going off half-cocked when a train wreck of epic proportions hit us.

“…because this is where the game makes us or breaks us, sweetheart, and I need to know you’re willing to fight the battle in order to win the war.”

Game Maker is a BJ Harvey classic recipe and is a recipe I have come to adore. We have great character connection, witty dialogue, it is hot as hell and another two fantastic characters to add into an already fabulous mix. Romcom gold.

“With just that one kiss, you had me seriously considering the consequences of losing him and keeping you.” Woman down. Totally out for the fucking count.

Game Maker is most definitely a romantic comedy, I had so many tears of laughter while reading, between our hero and heroine and her best friend the dialogue was enough to make even the sourest of faces laugh. This is one of the things I love about a BJ Harvey book, her trademark wit and fantastic sense of humour are prevalent throughout and while she delivers her romances with passion and heat and of course a little angst, it is always perfectly balanced with fantastic one liners and side splitting scenes.

“You alright there, Dan?”
“I don’t know…”
“What do you need…Shots? Weed? Valium? I’d offer sex, but it’s been a long time since I’ve been diving down in disco town so I might be a bit rusty.” ~ Dani & Abi

Brothers best friend’s tropes are always entertaining reads and this is one trope that I have always loved, especially when said brother is as protective as Zander was over his younger sibling, Danika. If you have read the Bliss series, you will have already heard Zander’s story and know that he was a boy that had to grow up quick and become the man of the house. He had practically raised Danika and his brotherly emotions were more fatherly when it came to Dani. He was extremely protective and this was one thing that Dani loved and loathed about him, but she always knew he had the best intentions.

“Not only would Zander kill me, he’d drag it out and make it painful by castrating me with a rusty bread knife first. Maximum pain for the ultimate betrayal.”

Dani was one hilarious woman, she worked hard, sometimes too hard. She was a game designer, a geeky tech nerd and her nerdiness is something that only makes you love her all the more. She may be a geek, but she has a wicked sense humour, is as hot as sin and has a heart of gold. A heart that has been beating for one person and one person only, Zander’s best friend Zach, the hot and extremely delectable fire fighter. Dani has loved him from afar for a long time. The age gap had always been an issue, but now she was a grown woman, age was just a number and she wanted to make her move.

“I just laid myself out for the only guy I’ve ever truly wanted. He touched me. He branded me, and after one kiss, he owned me.”

Zach was book boyfriend perfection. It seems our fire fighter has had the hots for Dani too, but out of respect for his relationship with Zander and the obvious age gap he had never made his move. Now, though, a beautiful woman was presented to him and he was finding it harder and harder to resist the temptation, he knew that if Zander found out he would burn in a fiery hell, friendship be damned. But sometimes, love makes you do the most ridiculous things, you don’t seek it out, it finds you and sometimes that pull is so strong, resistance is futile. Will Zach have more fires to put out than he bargained for?

“She’s the type of woman I’d work myself into the ground for, and spend every day for the rest of my life knowing I was punching well above my weight but not giving a flying fuck if the whole world knew it. The type of woman for whom I’d give up everything I owned to call her mine.”

BJ Harvey delivers a realistic romance whereby there is no insta-lust, no insta-love, this has been a slow burn for both of them for a long time. The shall we shan’t we, the hesitation, the resistance all adds to a believable romance that will have you salivating for more and hoping beyond all hope that they take the plunge and just go for it, to hell with the consequences. Personally, I would have loved a few glimpses of their pasts especially as this attraction has been there for years, but that would have been the icing on the cake.

“I love my son, but Dani, he’s your brother, not your keeper.”

Dani’s flat mate, Abi, was one amazing character who I am hoping will be up next in this series. Together, these two were hilarious and this was really where BJ Harvey’s dialogue shone. These two best friends were like chalk and cheese but they just fit. All the other Bliss crew make appearances throughout and it was great to catch up with these group of friends. This motley crew are like one big huge family and a family that I feel that I am a part of. Having watched them all bloom from lonely singletons to married couples with families has been a pleasure to read about and one that I hope continues.

Excerpt:

A loud knock at the door interrupts me. My eyes widen, and Abi quirks a brow. Turning to look through the peephole, she spins back around with a huge grin on her face. “Well, well, well . . . I do believe you might have a late night gentleman caller, Ms. Roberts. Should I let him in or make him sweat?”
My heart has palpitations at the thought of Zach coming back to me—for me. What on earth could he want at midnight on a Sunday after leaving me pent up and speechless just twenty minutes ago?
Then the three shots of tequila kick in and feisty, take-no-prisoners Dani comes out to play.
“Leave him out there,” I tell her.
Abi clutches her heart with one hand and wipes away a non-existent tear with the other. “I’m so proud right now,” she says.
“Yeah, yeah . . .” I sweep my hand toward the door. “Don’t you have a job and a penis to get back to?”
“Say penis again. It makes me hot when you go all grown-up on me.”
“P. E. N. I. S,” I spell out, enunciating every letter.
He knocks again, and the look of absolute delight on Abi’s face has me biting my lip to stifle my laughter.
“You’re going to have to put him out of his misery, Dan. I’ll let him in, you can make him work hard for it, and kick him out and make him work for it all over again,” she says with an amused glint in her eye.
“You’re evil, you know that?”
“You wouldn’t have me any other way, and besides, you can’t make it too easy. He did the crime; he needs to do the time.”
“I know.”
“He’s on my shit list right now for making you cry.”
“He didn’t make me cry as such . . .”
“Almost.”
“Almost is different from actually doing it.”
He knocks again. “I can hear you, you know.”

As usual Ms Heaton has written another diamond of a little book. It has hot passion and sensual lovemaking and a story that keeps you guessing until the end. It tells you of an Angel who is the Fifth Commander of the Echelon. An angel without a name sent to Earth on a mission to secure a half-breed female and to bring her back to Heaven. It appeared an easy task but nothing is easy in one of Ms Heaton’s books as you will find out as you read this story.

Hell has also sent someone to retrieve the same female half-breed in the shape of a demon warrior from the Second Legion. A beautiful demoness called Asteria that will blow all of the good intentions that a certain angel holds dear out of the water when they come together in their quest.

Even Asteria was floored when she came across the angel with his blond hair and pale green eyes.

“He stood seven feet tall, golden skin stretched taut over honed muscles that made her quiver inside, trembling with a need to reach out and touch him to see whether his skin would be soft and smooth while his muscles would be hard as stone.”

And the angel, when confronted with the beautiful demoness who dressed so sexily that every male turned to watch her as she passed them by. Her long black hair with its red and gold streak down the front to her startling blue eyes and a body that was every man’s dream affected him as he's never been affected before in all of the centuries that he's been alive.

He was made to fight all demons and destroy them but somehow even though the intent was there when he looked at Asteria there was something stopping him from actually committing the deed and as you read you will find that nothing is what it seems.

But it does show of the attraction which blows so hot a flame between two people that should never be and how hot that flame can grow…

“His mouth found hers, his kiss soft and controlled as he edged deeper to the furthest point he could reach and settled there, as if he wanted her to feel just how perfect they were for each other, how he completed her so beautifully.”

The story has lots of twists and turns and an outcome you would never see coming but I will say no more just to say that this is one hot and sensual read and you will thoroughly enjoy it.

Excerpt:

The new fae town was quieter than the one he had left in Fort William, situated in a cavern beneath a country estate outside London. He strolled through it, scanning the faces of everyone in the witches’ district. This fae town stood apart from the others he had visited around the world, the districts bearing huge ornate arched signs across the street at their entrances and each looking slightly different from the others.

The witches’ district was near the main entrance of the cavern, below the steps that led down from the tunnel into it, and consisted of square flat-roofed white-washed buildings of different heights tightly packed together. Narrow cobbled arteries ran between them, and on the main shopping streets, the colourful canvas canopies that reached out from each store almost touched in the centre of the road.

To the right of the witches’ district was one he would be sure to avoid unless absolutely necessary. This fae town had a demons’ district, made up of single storey buildings constructed of black wooden beams with white plaster in the space between them, and crooked tiled roofs. Smoke curled lazily from many of the chimneys, drifting high into the air and dissipating near the jagged roof of the cavern.

He lifted his gaze from the people moving along the busy street in the witches’ district and pinned it on the far end of the cavern, where it curved. Tall buildings hugged that curve, each a different colour, banners hanging from their walls. One of the buildings, a crimson four-storey monstrosity with balconies on almost every window, housed succubi.

Whenever he visited this town, he kept his distance from them. He wasn’t interested in the wares they peddled, or falling foul of their abilities to lure a man into their beds against his will, making him feel he wanted it.

On the left of the bordello was a blue building bearing long cerulean and silver banners streaming down its front. It belonged to a tiger shifter pride, one who kept to themselves for the most part. To the right of the bordello was a dull grey building belonging to a clan of ogres. He wouldn’t be surprised if the succubi used their charms on the ogres. The poor males were not blessed with beauty, meaning few females outside of their own species were interested in them.

Near the tiger pride’s building was a cream haphazard one with a black banner hanging down the right of the facade, and he’d had to ask the local witches about that one. It turned out that many different cat shifters called it home now, a makeshift pride for those who had none.

To the far left of the curved back wall of the cavern stood a three-storey black building. A tavern. He had been forced to secure lodgings there, despite the number of demons who frequented the place. It had been the only available room in the town, so he would have to put up with how his mark throbbed with a low burn the entire time he was in it. The last time he had visited this fae town, there had been a small inn run by witches at the other end of the cavern near the entrance steps, but they had closed their business and moved on, leaving him with no choice other than lodging with demons.

He curled his lip in disgust, caught himself and sighed as he purged his emotions and cleared his mind.

He returned to searching for his target.

He had received a report from Heaven that had given him this town as her next location, which unnerved him, because he had overheard one of the males in the Scottish fae town giving the demoness the same information.

He pushed thoughts of the demoness out of his head and focused back on his mission. He had a flawless record when it came to his missions and his duty as an Echelon, and he was not going to allow a demoness to swoop in and ruin things for him now. This mission was important to him because it was important to Heaven, and he would not fail. He would find the half-breed first, before the demoness could corrupt her.

He had left for this town as soon as he had heard one of her informants mention it, able to teleport here because he had visited it before. It was slightly different now, with the new factions occupying the buildings at the far end, but similar enough that he could easily find his way around. The witches’ district hadn’t really changed, and it hadn’t taken much effort on his part to rekindle old relationships with the females who peddled their potions and spells along the streets.

The last store he had stopped at had spoken of another coven, one filled with males, and he was heading there now.

The black cross on his wrist itched and then began a steady burn. He scowled at it, clenched his teeth and bit back a growl as he realised what it meant just a second before a demon walked out of the alley ahead of him.

Dear lord, he wanted to cut her down.

Infuriating demoness.

She looked stunned for a split second as her blue eyes landed on him but recovered quickly, flicking long black hair over her bare shoulders and sauntering towards him. Her tartan pleated skirt bounced with each step and matched the trim on her small black corset top, and the ribbons threaded through the tops of her stockings. The red complemented the ink of her tattoo and he resisted the temptation to look at it and chart each swirl and curve that traversed her right thigh and the dip of her waist between her skirt and corset.

“What are you doing here, Rey?” she said, her voice all light when all he could feel from her was darkness.

Darkness that made his gift urge him to eradicate her. She was a threat, a demon, and it was his duty to end her.

He tamped down that hunger and regained a sliver of control over his Echelon instincts, enough that he could take in what she had said, and frown at her in response as her use of a word for him perplexed him.

Rey?

“I am the Fifth Commander of the Echelon and you will address me as such, if you must address me at all… which I would prefer you did not.” He swept past her, barely stifling the urge to lash out at her as it rose back to the fore.

He gritted his teeth and shoved it back down inside again. Covert. His target was coming to this town, might be here already among these witches, and he was not going to ruin this chance to secure her because a demoness had riled him.

Said demoness bounced beside him, so close that his skin flushed hot on his left side. He edged away from her but she moved closer again. Persistent, irritating female.

“You didn’t answer my question, Rey.” She hopped in front of him and he had to stop dead to avoid colliding with her.

He flashed his teeth at her and ducked down the alley on his right. A mistake. The alley was small, barely wide enough to accommodate him, but that didn’t stop her from trying to get back in front of him. She squeezed past him, her bare skin brushing his, and another unsettling shiver ran through him and his skin burned where she had touched him. Repulsion. That was all that sensation was. Nothing more.

“I am not here to hunt demons,” he said and glared at her when she stopped in front of him, forcing him to stop too because his only other option was to squeeze past her and he was damned if that was going to happen. He would not touch her. “I will gladly deal with you if you insist on annoying me though.”

She shrugged. “Whatever, Rey.”

He curled his fingers into fists, sought some calm amongst the storm of his emotions as it raged out of control. He drew down slow deep breaths, filling his lungs and waiting for the fury to pass. She was provoking him on purpose. She was attempting to annoy him and was evidently taking pleasure from it. Her smile was proof of that.

The demoness was enjoying ruffling his feathers.

He would not give in to her and give her the pleasure of seeing him angry.

He stared her down and some of her amusement fled her face, turning it sober. “Why do you insist on calling me Rey?”

She shrugged again. “Why do angels insist on having no names? It makes things so difficult. It must be hell trying to get someone’s attention in Heaven.”

He folded his arms across his chest, which rather than intimidating her into answering him only seemed to delight her and draw her eyes down to his body. Black bled into the edges of her irises and the blue blazed so brightly her eyes glowed in the low light of the alley.

He unfolded them and shoved his hands into his pockets. Another mistake. He had thought it would make things better, but it only made them worse.

Her eyes dropped with his hands, landing on his crotch.

“Why do you insist on calling me Rey?” he bit out again and she blinked and looked up at him, fine black eyebrows lodged high on her forehead, a confused edge to her eyes, as if she had forgotten everything that had happened in the past five minutes while she had been gawping at his body.

She casually rolled her right shoulder, and then flashed him a wicked grin. “It’s a play on the Spanish word for king… you know… because you’re a royal pain in my arse.”

He huffed at her. He did not find that amusing.

She responded by holding her hand out to him. “My name is Asteria.”

It was his turn to arch an eyebrow. “After the Greek titan?”

She nodded and beamed until he shook his head and sighed.

“A demon does not deserve the name of a mortal goddess of old.”

Her face blackened, her hand dropped to her side, and her pupils turned elliptical in the centre of her now-black irises and blazed gold fire at him.

“Tell that to my parents, whoever the fuck they were.”

He had hit a sore spot, and for some reason it left him reeling, feeling something for her that wasn’t disgust or hatred.

While he didn’t remember his family, he had learned of them from those who had known them, and he felt that he’d had a family. It seemed that Asteria hadn’t and it made him think about how he would feel if that was the case for him, and he found himself balancing on the verge of doing something ridiculous.

Apologising.

Angels did not apologise to demons.

He looked down on her, his head held high, seeing her for what she was. A demon. Just because she was female, it didn’t mean she was any different from the countless other demons he had met and eradicated. None of those had given him the impression that they cared about others. This was probably another ploy to get under his skin but it wouldn’t work.

She was a demon. She did not care that she had never known her family. It was a lie.

Even when part of him knew it was the truth and the hurt in her voice had been real.

He turned away from her, striding down the alley back towards the main road of the witches’ district. She was still a moment, drifting into the distance, but then she started following him again. He wanted to bellow to the heavens. Instead he prayed for patience, enough to stop himself from cutting her down. His right hand twitched.

He shoved it in his pocket.

She caught up with him a few metres along the main street, dancing between the various fae and witches as they came and went. When she twirled in front of him, her tartan pleated skirt swirled upwards and outwards, flashing black lace-edged panties at him.

He gritted his teeth, pinned his gaze straight ahead and did his best to ignore her.

It became impossible when she bounced ahead of him, her fall of straight onyx hair jumping with each step. The gold-to-red stripe down the right side of her hair came into view as she looked over her shoulder at him and smiled saucily. Her short fangs snagged her red lower lip, teased it in a way that made him feel she was trying to tease him too.

He shook his head and ignored her attempts to taunt him, and fixed his gaze over her head. It was difficult when she stood over six foot, taller than many of the males who were ogling her as she passed. Some eyed her black horns where they protruded from her hair but most were staring at her breasts or thighs.

Personally, he found his eyes drawn to her stiletto boots and his mind drawn to pondering how she managed to bounce along the cobbled road in them without landing a foot wrong and ending up on her backside. They looked impossible to walk in, let alone bounce or run, the black spikes of her heels at least four inches in length.

She twirled to face him, her red lips curved in another wicked smile. “You’re staring again, Rey.”

He rolled his eyes and sighed.

“Wondering how my boots would feel with the heels pressing into your bare arse as you pound into me?”

His right hand twitched in his jeans. Of course she noticed it.

Grinned.

He glared at her and dared her to say something.

“It’s just a game, Sir. One that you so wisely and precisely crafted.”

Rachel Robinson is a new to me author and I have to say, when I saw the sign-ups for this book it was the concept that actually pulled me in to read. While I am not well versed in the BDSM world it was the thought of a “Big Brother” type reality show that coloured me intrigued.

This most definitely was Big Brother meets BDSM and while this concept makes for great, fun reading I don’t think I could ever watch it on TV. This is the reality show where a predominant Dom goes looking for a submissive. He starts with ten contestants and as the week’s progress, they get eliminated until there is only one winner. During the course of the show, there are “scenes” and “punishments scenes” that are all televised and as you can imagine there are cat fights galore and a whole heap of jealousy as these subs fight for the attention of the Dom.

“I’m the casualty in your game of consequences…”

Kayla however, was not a submissive in any way shape or form. In fact, she didn’t have a submissive bone in her body, but she wanted to get her Masters and the prize money from The Dom Games would be more than enough for her to continue her education. Researching the Dom/Sub relationships Kayla thinks that this is the answer to her prayers and so she enters and surprisingly enough gets picked to go on the live show. What she didn’t count on in her grand plan was falling head over heels in love with the Dom and the after effects of just her mere presence on the show.

“White assholes for Dominic Reed’s harem? It’s a little racist if you ask me. My asshole was fine before. A nice dark shade of asshole. Just the way it’s supposed to be. My ass is a hard limit anyways.”

Dominic was the mastermind behind The Dom Games, this was his baby and after going through a string of subs, he wants to find a forever one. From the moment he clapped eyes on Kayla’s entry video, she enamoured him. He knew that she wasn’t a submissive but the eye rolling and the sassiness called to him on a level that had been dormant for as long as he could remember. He was intrigued, Dominic may have just met his match.

“Only you can change you. If you think he’s different, then perhaps he’s decided to make a change in himself. I’m merely a pawn in his game.”

I thoroughly enjoyed this read, it was one I couldn’t put down as I ran the gamut of emotions of Kayla’s experiences at the hands of The Dom Games. I laughed at her sassiness, I cried for her, but most of all I adored her. Kayla was one of those endearing characters that while she had no filter, you appreciated her honesty. With Kayla, what you saw is what you got and while she came across as having that brash, hard exterior, underneath that façade was a woman with a heart of gold who had been blindsided by love.

“Where I come from men give women diamonds when they want to claim them. Not collars.”

Dominic…man, I adored him then I hated him, then I adored him. Like Kayla, he had very much been blindsided but I had a hard time believing that someone that had been a dominant all his life could change so drastically, so quickly. I know that this is fiction and authors have artistic licence but I just felt that changes of heart were a bit rapid even though they were very much welcomed. However, the only knowledge of this lifestyle I have is from what I have read in novels so I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination. Please be aware that this does involve sex with multiple people, it is a BDSM reality show and all contestants get a fair shot, even if it did make me throw up a little in my mouth.

“Love is never letting go even when you should.”

This for me was an entertaining read though, a means of escape and Rachel Robinson certainly delivered on that front. This book does play out like a reality show except you get all the behind the scenes nitty gritties that add that extra layer. The concept was fantastic and this certainly won’t be the last Rachel Robinson book I read. I really enjoyed it.

“It’s not a game. It was never a game for us.”

Excerpt:

“Are you ready?” I ask, placing my palm on her sweaty stomach. She’s so petite that my hand spans her entire stomach. It rises and falls with each deep breath she takes. This power I feel right now is utter heaven. She’s mine in every way possible, and no one can deny it. Fury of possession and lust hit me. I don’t want to hold back any longer.

Kayla nods. Gritting my teeth, I unfasten her gag and pull it away with a long strand of spit connecting it to her mouth. Her lips part and close a few times as she adjusts to the new sensation.

Lips. They’re such innocuous things in real life. They speak, and laugh. They kiss babies, and are responsible for filtering or not filtering every word you ever speak. In my world, this world, they’re the most erotic, beautiful, stunning part of a person. Lips praise. They suck and kiss and worship my body. Kayla’s lips worship me. I am obsessed with lips, but especially hers right now because I know that this isn’t her life, nor is it something she would pick for herself, yet her lips are asking me for more. Words passing her lips about how good I feel, how wet she is, thanking me for filling her with a vibrating dildo. It’s uncomplicated in here. She obeys. She wants more.

Removing the gag does give me pause, because she could potentially say something un-sub like and ruin the scene, but at this point I wouldn’t even care, I’ll still fuck her. My cock is heavy and dripping with pre-come. I glance at the large, digital clock to my right to make sure my timing is on par and catch sight of the crew.
