Until I break by M Leighton

This is one of those books that grabs your attention at the blurb and then hauls you in on the first page. This was a very different book from M Leighton and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

“"I’m intrigued. Tempted beyond what I’ve ever been before. To know her, to open her up. To break her."

In love, sometimes what you fear most is exactly what you need.

Laura Drake is an author. She writes bestselling paranormal romances that continue to top the charts. She is sharp. She is confident. She is in control.

And she doesn’t exist.”

Those few lines from the blurb sum it up….who is Laura Drake??? Laura Drake is the pen name of a famous and successful author named Samantha. Laura is everything that Sam isn’t and with the help of a designer wardrobe, loads of makeup and wigs Sam morphs into Laura Drake her alter ego. Laura is confident, sexy, self assured everything that Sam is not. Sam goes to extremes to ensure that her identity is kept a secret as personally, as Sam, she does not want to be a part of that world, she just likes to blend into the background and be unnoticed, she is withdrawn, insecure and damaged. She has her issues that stems from this and at the request/force of her sister has started taking online pysch sessions with a doctor to help her.

Sam writes about vampires in her paranormal romances and her hero in these books is called Mason Strait…imagine her surprise when whilst at a book signing event a man walks in, makes eye contact and is the epitome of Mason Strait….Laura/Sam meet Alec Brand.

Alec Brand is a bit of an enigma in the beginning of this book, slowly but surely we find out snippets about him and things begin to piece together. This book is written in alternate POV’s so you do see both sides to the story.

Alec and Sam do eventually become an “item” but Sam finds it difficult with the Mason/Alec scenarios…she sort of begins to lose herself between being Laura and being Sam and this only confuses her more, however deep down she feels that Alec is the one that can “fix her” and slowly but surely Alec gets under her skin and takes Sam on one heck of a journey.

Alec is also broken, he does have a kinky side and keeps his emotions and feelings contained..he has his reasons for this and it does come out in the story…Sam’s reaction when trying to save the relationship was beautifully written and very emotional and what she went through to get Alec back was a fab read.

This is a stand alone book, there are no cliff hangers (phew!!!!)  so the story is all wrapped up with a pretty little epilogue. I do love an epilogue!!!  I can highly recommend this as a brilliant read, I really loved it!!
