Review ~ Playing in the Rain by Jane Harvey-Berrick

"He crashed into my life, like an ocean wave out of a millpond sea. He changed everything"

OMG what just happened? Jane Harvey-Berrick made me cry! I rarely cry at books! And with a Novella too!

I am ashamed to say that this was my first Jane Harvey-Berrick read, but I can assure you, it won't be my last. Although this was a novella, I did not feel that Ava and Cody's relationship was rushed. I soaked it all in. This was a beautiful story, with some very wise words and an important meaning behind it that will get you all reflecting.

After having to leave her job, Ava is not having a good time of it. Stuck in traffic in the rain she is handed a note by a guy that appears to be enjoying the rain far too much. That note starts a friendship between the two of them.

As Ava starts to get to know Cody she sees his thirst for life, his willingness to try new things and to live life to the full. She's sucked in and together they create a "wish list" of 10 things they want to experience over the next few months.

I really enjoyed seeing them tick things of their list. This part of the book was fun and fresh and I could feel myself smiling whilst reading. It had a different light feel to it and even though you know in the back of your mind that all good things must come to an end, you are totally drawn into the excitement and adventure they have. To top that off, during this time their relationship is developing, becoming more.

There are little things that you pick up on that make you think that the story is going a certain way, but even so BAM when it happened it was not quite what I expected and it hit me like a freight train. Jane has done a great job to get you sucked in so much that it hits you really hard and all in a little Novella!

This is a great little book, that will take you no time to read, but will have a lasting effect on you. I highlighted quite a few lines, especially towards the end, that really make you stop and think.

"Because Life is a journey, not a destination."
