Blog Tour & Review ~ Luke's Absolution (The Colloway Brothers #3) by KL Kreig

Luke's Absolution by K.L. Kreig is LIVE!

Sinners Welcomed.

Book Description:

Demons. Regrets. Absolution.

Luke has lived on the wrong side of the law since he was seventeen. His hands are stained and his soul is black, but the worst sin he's committed is falling in love with his brother’s girl. Then he met her. Addy Monroe is pure, innocent and stubborn as an ox. Even though he doesn’t deserve her, Luke will stop at nothing to have her. But just when happiness is within his grasp fate rips her away, reminding him once again that there is no absolution for sinners. Will Luke be able to let color fill his blackened soul?

From the first time Addy saw Luke Colloway over ten years ago she wanted him. Addy has been attracted to rough, crude, inked bad boys with a bike planted securely between their thighs and wicked promises falling from their lips her entire life. Every one of them has let her down. Every one of them has broken her heart. Every one of them has put her second. She's never going to let that happen again. When Luke promises her a future, will Addy let him in only to have her heart broken again?

Book 3 in a 4 book series. Each book features a different brother and each can be read as a STANDALONE. To get the full Colloway Brother experience, however, it's most enjoyable to read in order.

***Mature readers only, 18+. Features alpha men with foul language and penchant for hot sex.

“You’re my color.”

Ever since I stumbled on this series and this author I have been itching for Luke’s book. While Gray and Asher have both had their moment in the limelight, finally it was Luke’s turn. While this book can be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading the series in order. Luke first appears in book one and is quite pivotal in Forsaking Gray and by reading that book it would give you a great insight into Luke.

“I need all the absolution I can get and on a very regular basis. I have so many sins to atone for, I could go to church daily and it still wouldn’t be enough. It will never be enough.”

I knew Luke’s story was going to be hard, he was an enigma, he held his cards and emotions close to his chest, he had a lot of demons, but under all that “gloom” was a heck of a lot of “bright” even if he couldn’t see it himself. When we first met Luke in Forsaking Gray you could tell he was a good man, he was self-sacrificing, he knew right from wrong even if the lines blurred a little, but you knew he had a huge heart, it was just a shame he kept it under lock and key. One thing Luke deserved the most was to love and be loved, he just need to believe that himself.

“…not with a man like me who has so may fucking ghosts in his closet, I’m surprised people can’t hear them howling.”

Addy was a woman that had her own issues too, everyone she loves leaves. She has been let down by every man she has opened her heart to, so her outlook on love is pretty bleak. While she knows deep down she wants it all…marriage, kids etc. she knows that that kind of love is hard to find in the ever present sea of sharks. Her heart is firmly guarded too, what little left of it there is. Addy has never had a close relationship with her mum either and it is this rejection that causes a lot of her issues. She has had it rough but Addy is one tough cookie and if anyone can make it, it is her. I loved Addy’s wit, her tenacity and her sass after all, Luke doesn’t call her “Fireball” for nothing.

“Most women I know still have their man firmly by the balls, but I think most of them are okay with that if it’s the right woman doin’ the tuggin’.”

These two really were the perfect fit, but with two broken and guarded hearts this was always going to a story about opening yourself up. Luke was a man on a mission though, no woman had ever turned his head like Addy. He had been admiring her from afar for a long time, but because of his self-worth issues and the fact that Addy was his best friends little sister, he stayed away, no matter how painful…little did he know the attraction was far from one sided.

“I’m rough and crude and definitely on the wrong side of heaven. Damaged, at best. Ruined, at worst.”

Luke and Addy have been skirting around each other for years, but for both of them those burning embers were just waiting to be ignited to a raging inferno. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and the thrill of the chase only whetted your appetite for what was to come. KL Kreig really delivered the slow blow and the agonising build up. The half-hearted fight of emotions from Addy was comical at best and you just knew that she wouldn’t be able to hold out forever, but Luke was the gentleman in every sense of the word and just kept waiting and pursuing until Addy’s little moment of defiance was over.

“…I have no idea what I am doing relationship wise. My brothers are tender where I’m hard. Refined where I’m rough. Boardwise to my streetwise.”

Luke was a truly amazing man, to see his soft side was beautiful and he showed what I knew all along…he knows how to treat a woman. He was like a dog with a bone with Addy’s heart, he knew it belonged to him, he just needed to dig it up…and he dug and dug until even Addy couldn’t deny that it truly belonged to him.

“I never knew sex with a woman could be almost transcendent. Silence, haters. I guess that’s how it is when you make love versus just fuck.”

These two have their troubles to deal with so you know that the course of true love will never run smoothly but I always believed that these two had what it takes to dodge the curveballs that life would throw at them. They have a few and most of them emanate from their pasts.

“I wish I could tell you I didn’t fuck it up, but I can’t. I’m a man. We fuck everything up at least once.”

I high-lighted so much in this book, from witty one liners to heart wrenching, beautiful quotes that had me tearing up with happiness. The growth in KL Kreig’s writing from book to book has been obvious and with each Colloway brother she has delivered three vastly different stories, while sticking to her writing style of intense love stories intertwined with her ever present wit. Sometimes it’s a little but she had fun with Luke and Addy. Considering I thought this was going to be a dark and brooding Luke I was pleasantly surprised that she showed us a different side and this lightened up the book no end. So now I wait on tenterhooks for the final brother, Conn. This brother we don’t know much about but what little we do know sets a precedent for an entertaining read. Can the unobtainable really settle down? He is adamant his heart isn’t for the taking, I can’t wait to meet the woman to knock him on his arse. Another winner from KL Kreig and I cannot recommend this series highly enough.

“He’s ramming against my zipper, declaring outright mutiny, and has recruited the twins below, who are probably so blue they look like Smurfs by now.”
