“Temporary has potential to
become permanent.”
As soon as I finished Then There Was You I was absolutely
itching to read this book. Claire Contreras left the readers longing for the
conclusion of Tessa and Rowan’s story. I wasn’t sure how this one was going to
play out and although I was extremely frustrated at times with the two of them,
I absolutely loved how this duet ended.
Tessa and Rowan were one of those couples that you knew
belonged together and yet their timing was never right. Anything that could go
wrong did go wrong and meddling family never helped. Expectations were always
first and foremost, and Rowan was one of those people who always wanted to do
the right thing, even if it made him unhappy.
Tessa was far from perfect in this book and while I could
understand her reasoning behind her actions, I felt that if she had come clean
straight away, Rowan would have stepped up to the plate and do the right thing.
However, if all our characters did that, it would make for some boring books
and this was far from that.
“One thing I learned in the
aftermath of our love was that my heart can crack, break into a million pieces,
and shatter like glass, but it kept beating. In my case, it definitely kept
beating…”
Rowan really grew as a character in this book. In the first
book we never really got to see the real Rowan and whether it was because he
was older and a bit more brow beaten, it was good to see him stick up for what
and who he wanted in this book. As a person, he had come full circle and I
adored this new version of him.
As ever, the character connection was on point, the emotions
were spot on and the intense chemistry that these two shared oozed off every
page. I had been rooting for these two from the very beginning and although
their reconnection was fraught, tense and a little angst filled, it was honest
to them and their circumstances and that is all I could have asked for. I must
admit, I did think that this was going to be one hell of a roller coaster and
while the tampered down drama wasn’t what I expected, I still really enjoyed
it.
“He bleeds, you know. Our little
boy bleeds.”
I adore this authors writing, I always know I am going to
get a fantastic read and once again Claire Contreras did not disappoint. I
cannot wait to see what comes next from this author.
