Excerpt:

The tension in the car between us thickens. The current of desire is so palpable, I feel like it kick-starts my heart every other beat. I blow out a breath as the elevator ascends, Beaux shifting her feet beside me.

“Did I do something wrong?”

I snort. Fuck, yes. But where do I even begin to explain? You made me want you? You made me worry when I told myself I wasn’t going to put myself in that situation ever again? You fucking don’t ever listen about not going off on your own? I want you so goddamn bad right now that the desire is so sharp, it’s painful.

The elevator dings, and I stride off the car to her door without looking back to see if she’s following. My body just knows she is.

It takes her a moment to fumble with her bag, get her room key out, and open her door, all the while casting curious glances my way.

“Put the camera down,” I order the minute we’re inside the door and it’s shut.

“What is your problem—?” she asks, but the question is cut off the second the camera strap leaves her hand, my body crashing into hers and pushing her up against the wall behind her. My lips find hers instantly.

It takes her a millisecond for the shock to fade and for her to respond, but once she does, we meet in a savage union of frenzied hands gripping, mouths taking, bodies begging to join in every way possible.

Beaux weaves her fingers in my hair and holds tight as she tears her mouth momentarily from mine. “I thought you were pissed at me.”

I kiss her fiercely, all tongue and teeth and possession, before I respond. “I’m furious. But I want you more.” It’s as true a statement as I’ve ever given, the moment stripping away any superfluous words. “You came back to me.”

“I’ll always come back to you,” she says, her voice breathless but resolute.

Our Review:

Reviewed by Donna ~ 3 stars
***ARC received for an honest review***

“Whoever said love is like war, easy to begin but hard to end, knew exactly what he was talking about.”

I know, I know, I am probably going to be in the minority with this one but yes…I, a K Bromberg lover have given this book a three. Three is I liked it though, so don’t get me wrong, I just didn’t love this one like I normally do a K Bromberg read.

Tanner is Rylee’s brother and he has appeared a few times throughout the Driven series. Tanner is a war correspondent for a high profile media station and is at the top of his field. He had recently been on leave as his photographer had been killed in action, a photographer that was an ex-lover and had been a best friend for years. Her loss and his sense of guilt in not being able to protect and save her had been eating him up inside, but he was now deemed ready to get back on the “hard beat” and he couldn’t wait. He thrived on the adrenaline rush and he just needed to get back on the horse, even if just for his sanity.

“My life is transient at best and a mind fuck at its worst.”

Beaux or BJ was a photographer and she had been freelancing in the war zones when she landed the job as Tanner’s new sidekick. Beaux was kick ass and head strong and when two people with similar character traits get together you just knew that sparks were going to fly…in more ways than one.

You immediately got that sense of a love/hate relationship. Both of these characters were economical with sharing their pasts and both kept their cards close to their chests, but when one depends on the other you were willing them to open up to each other so that they could build that level of trust between them. Trust was an important issue with these two, with their lives on the line every time they left the hotel, you needed to be able to trust the other, to heed the warnings and toe the line…something that Beaux didn’t seem willing to do.

“Be careful whom you trust – the devil was once an angel, you know.”

I felt Tanner’s frustration, I felt his guilt and I felt the war going on his head, but I never felt that character connection between them. Whether it was because there were so many secrets and they never really opened up to one another I don’t know, but for me, this always felt about lust and a convenience as opposed to a hot love affair. This really killed me, because I am an emotional reader and I need that connection to believe in the characters that I am reading about, something that for me, K Bromberg always nails.

“…if you can look into someone’s eyes and see tomorrow, then you’ve found your forever.”

The first seventy percent of this book, for me, was really slow and I have to be honest and say I struggled to stay engaged with the story and if it had been any other author I would have DNF’d. I have never had this happen on a K Bromberg read before. However, it really begins to pick up in the last thirty percent and this is where I really had to keep reading. The way the story went was totally unexpected but it is here that I wished it was fleshed out more. This is where I needed more and the last part of the story was over in a flash.

This, for me, was more romantic suspense and is a switch of genres for K Bromberg. While the plot was clever and as I said, I never saw the ending coming, for me, it needed that excitement in the first seventy percent too. The scene setting was faultless as was the technical writing and K Bromberg really nailed the male point of view, but I just needed that little bit more and sometimes a little less…a contradiction I know, but personally I feel the flow of the book would have benefited.

“My little piece of Heaven after going through so much hell.”

As I have said, this is just my opinion, we all read differently so what may not work for me, may work for you.

About the Author:

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines and damaged heroes who we love to hate and hate to love.

She’s a mixture of most of her female characters: sassy, intelligent, stubborn, reserved, outgoing, driven, emotional, strong, and wears her heart on her sleeve. All of which she displays daily with her husband and three children where they live in Southern California.

On a whim, K. Bromberg decided to try her hand at this writing thing. Since then she has written The Driven Series (Driven, Fueled, Crashed, Raced, Aced (releasing 1/11/16)), the standalone Driven Novels (Slow Burn, Sweet Ache, Hard Beat (releasing 11/3/15), and a short story titled UnRaveled. She is currently working on new projects and a few surprises for her readers.

She loves to hear from her readers so make sure you check her out on social media.

Cover Reveal ~ Undeniably Asher (Colloway Brothers #2) by KL Kreig

Release Date: 2nd December 2015

Book 2 in the The Colloway Brothers series. Each book can be read as a standalone.

Book Description:

Memories.
When does our past stop picking at our scars and start letting them heal?

Scars.
Can we see beyond our wounds to the possibilities the future holds?

Possibilities.
How do we let ourselves become vulnerable enough to trust the love that’s right in front of us?

Fate. She’s a fickle, wily bitch that slaps us in the face every opportunity she gets. Sometimes it’s a taunt, but sometimes it’s a goddamn wake-up call to pay attention. Take what’s rightfully yours without shame or apology. So when destiny put me straight in Alyse Kingsley’s path once again, I knew this was one slap I wasn’t ignoring. I’d let her get away once. I wouldn’t again. She was mine and I was takin’ her, kicking and screaming if need be.

Alyse ~ Deceit and betrayal. Every single person who was supposed to love me committed one of these.
My mother.
My father.
My sister.
My lover.
Incapable of letting people see the real me, I hold them at arm’s length. But Asher Colloway is relentless and it doesn’t take long before I cave to his pursuits. The big question is: can I let him in where it counts most? Before ghosts from my past come back to haunt me in ways I can’t possibly fathom? Before it’s too late?

Asher ~ Trust. Forgiveness. Impossible concepts, having been fucked over by a woman I’d loved before. But those aren’t my only personality flaws.
I’m possessive.
I’m jealous.
I’m dominant.
I have a secret kink.
I want Alyse. All of her. She shows people the shiny, untainted surface. I want the murky, damaged depth. The shadows. I want in all the way. Just when I think I’ve made it, fate cruelly bitch-slaps me again. And this time I don’t see it coming. The question now is: what am I willing to do to keep the woman I love by my side? And can Alyse accept me the way I am, faults and all?

Excerpt:

“You forget how well I know you, Livvy,” he murmurs. “I can see the wheels spinning behind those gorgeous eyes of yours, just trying to come up with something plausible to appease me. Something that won’t rip my fucking heart out of my chest and leave me bleeding out for a second time.”

I’m snared in his fiery gaze, unable to look away. Unable to deny his words or catch my breath. He leans in closer, running his nose erotically along my cheek. I inhale sharply.

His anger is justified.

His lust just confuses me.

“You ruined me, Livvy,” he croaks. The pain and agony I’ve caused him laces thickly through every syllable and I don’t have to see his face to know he speaks the truth. His confession guts me and tears spring into my eyes. I’ve ruined myself too, Gray.

“I’m sorry,” I choke out. There are no words I can utter that will ever be good enough. No words that will erase the pain and suffering I’ve caused Gray. The truth would only cause him more pain. Even if he could forgive me, I don’t deserve him. Not anymore.

“Sorry’s not fucking good enough,” he bellows, releasing me like a hot coal, pacing to the other side of the large conference room. “I need to understand, Livvy. Jesus, I deserve to know why the woman I love more than the air I breathe deserted me less than twenty-four fucking hours after she agreed to be my wife!”

I try to hold it in. I try, but I can’t. He’s the one that’s suffered because of my actions. Well, we both have, but how dare I make this about me. I know what I did; he doesn’t. He just thinks I abandoned him.

About the Author:

I’m just a regular ol’ Midwest girl who likes Game of Thrones and am obsessed with Modern Family and The Goldbergs. I run, I eat, I run, I eat. It’s a vicous cycle. I love carbs, but there’s love-hate
relationship with my ass and thighs. Mostly hate. I like a good cocktail (oh hell…who am I kidding? I love any cocktail). I’m a huge creature of habit, but I’ll tell you I’m flexible. I read every single day and if I don’t get a chance…watch the hell out, I’m a raving bitch. My iPad and me: BFFs. I’m direct and I make no apologies for it. I swear too much. I love alternative music and in my next life I want to be a bad-ass female rocker. I hate, hate, hate spiders, telemarketers, liver, acne, winter and loose hairs that fall down my shirt (don’t ask, it’s a thing).
