Cover Reveal ~ Excerpt & Giveaway ~ Blissful Surrender (Bliss 3) by BJ Harvey

Title: Blissful Surrender ( Bliss #3)
Author: BJ Harvey

This is a story of Sean Miller, a dom that will have your panties diving for cover with an eyebrow quirk. That will have even the strongest woman dropping to their knees in submission with a piercing stare, and Samantha Richards, a female cop who’s tough, seemingly impenetrable shell is strong enough to resist everyone except the one man it was build up to protect her against.

**Disclaimer – If you thought the first two Bliss books were hot, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Creative use of handcuffs, batons, a club scene you have to read to believe, and a tough as nails dominant who is blindsided by the one woman strong enough to threaten his resolve not to let his past dictate his future.**

Like the other books in the Bliss series, this book can be read as a stand alone. There are common characters in the books but it is not necessary to read the first two books in the series to read this one.

“Sean, I—”

No. She’s not getting another moment to talk herself out of this, out of us. She’s been running for way too long. This time it’s for keeps. This time, I’m not letting anything come between us—not my brother, not her mother, not her job and not some convoluted idea she gets in her head that she is not the submissive I need her to be. I’m sick of the bullshit, and this time I want what is mine.

And Sam is mine.

Wrapping my arm around her waist, I pull her body tight against mine and slant my head, slamming my mouth to hers as she gasps in shock. My hand grabs her blonde ponytail, holding her in place. Her tight muscles relax when my tongue rolls over hers as I set out to rediscover the beauty that is Samantha Richards. Her taste is intoxicating, and I find myself wanting to consume her, to lose myself inside of this gorgeous woman whose mind continues to deny the connection between us. In this moment, I want to show her everything I am, everything I can do to her, every possible way I can make her feel. I know I’m losing control, but with Sam, I don’t care.

I press my hips into her, pressing my hard as steel cock against the softness of her stomach. I feel her arms move between us, and I expect her to push me away, but she fists my shirt and pulls me closer, thrusting her hips into me in silent invitation.

She may not be able to admit the words, but she can show me with her body, with her actions—she can no longer deny the spark between us.

I pull my head back slightly, raking my teeth against her bottom lip. I scan her face, looking for any remaining uncertainty. If she said no it would hurt like hell, but I’d let her go. Again. But all I can see are swollen, pink lips and half-cast eyes full of want, and I know in that moment that I have my Sammy back. Even if it’s just for a few moments, a few hours, or maybe the night…if that is all I get with her, then I’ll take it willingly.

If this is the only chance I get with her, I’m going to make it count. I’m going to draw it out and make it last until neither one of us can move; until neither of us can breathe.

“You were saying?” I ask, raising an eyebrow.

Friday Frights ~ Claimed by a Demon King (Eternal Mates, #2) by Felicity Heaton

Reviewed by Shirley ~ 5 Stars

**ARC Received for honest review**

I was totally captivated with this brilliant second book of the Eternal Mates series. I could not put it down.

The story begins with Sable a huntress for Archangel, a force, who polices the paranormal beings in the mortal world and fifty of her hunters, with an army of elves under the command of Prince Loren and his second Bleu. Also accompanying Prince Loren is Olivia, Prince Loren's mate and good friend of Sables. All of them were going to the Third Realm in Hell to fight with the Demon King, Thorne, to aid Thorne in the war between him and the Fifth King who wants to take Thorne's realm from him.

When reaching the Third Realm, with the aid of the elves teleporting the humans. Sable is confronted with King Thorne in combat. Not thinking twice Sable went to his aid, only to find it was his own men he was sparring with much to Sable's embarrassment. In doing so, it only brought to other people's attention that something was going on between the King and Sable. Certainly with Thorne, as one look at her, he knew she was his chosen one and all he had to do was convince Sable of that fact.

Thorne had managed to bring in the werewolves and the elite company of vampires to help swell his army of demons in the forthcoming battle, the only thing was none of these different species get along too well so he had his hands full keeping the peace between them and also the courting of Sable.

To try and bring them all together Thorne put on a feast for all of them .but it didn't get off to a good start when he saw a certain elf taking too much notice of Sable and poor Sable landing up drunk on the strong demon drink which she wasn't used to. The jealous rivalry between these two men was apparent to all.

Feeling contrite about Sable, Thorne seeks out her friend Olivia as to what he could do to show Sable of his thoughtlessness of the drink he served her. Olivia sent him back to Earth to buy eggs bacon coffee and serve her breakfast to help beat the hangover she was bound to get the following morning. So Thorne cooked her breakfast and served it to her in bed and staying with her he started his courtship.

Since they first met both of them had been having very erotic dreams about very sexy lovemaking between them and Thorne knew that their bonding had started.
In one such dream:

"Holy Hell... you feel good inside me."

Thorne scowled at her. She was saying naughty things on purpose, trying to drive him over the edge.

"Not as good as you feel wrapped around me."

He grasped her hips and lifted her off him, and pushed her back down, ripping a harsh cry from her throat. "As tight as a glove, soft as silk and as hot as smelted steel.

and the dreams were getting stronger and hotter all the while Sable is in the Third Realm, leaving her quite turned on, but that had to go on a back boiler as she had her team to lead in the oncoming war.

After the first battle against the Fifth Kings troops, Sable found out something quite frightening about herself. Back at Thorns garrison being unnerved she wandered the hallways and found herself in front of a beautiful statue where Thorne found her and their lovemaking went up another notch to flesh on flesh:

He licked her from core to nub and back again, each hard stroke followed by a soft one. She writhed against his face, her hands tugging at his growing horns and her wildness intoxicating him.

"Thorne," she murmured, her head tipped back and her shoulders pressing hard into the stone. She looked delicious like that and tasted like Heaven.

"Don't stop."

but although Thorne had given her so much through his lovemaking Sable could not go to total abandonment, she called their lovemaking to a halt, and although Thorne wanted to make her his, to claim her as his mate he understood, but he wasn't to be totally denied. Oh Yes,

The corners of his lips quirked into a sated smile. "I had always thought you had a wicked mouth. Now I know just how truly wicked it is."

but the biggest battle of their lives is on the horizon, and the love they share helps them, together, they know no bounds.

I really loved this book. It was well worth waiting for and cannot wait to read more in this series. Definite 5 stars for me Ms Heaton.

Excerpt:

Cuba’s POV

Not exactly a meet-cute…

The room closed in, making me sweat. I hadn’t talked to her in over a year, and now here we were, face-to-face. Two ex-lovers who hated each other.

I had to get away from her.

Dovey tilted her head as I stood, giving me a scathing glare. “Leaving so soon? Yeah, go ahead, cut and run. Coward.”

I ignored her and tried to get Weinstein’s attention, to let her know she could flunk me for all I cared.

“Before you go, tell me one thing, and I’ll make sure we aren’t partners in this class. You’ll be free of me,” she said.

“What?” I asked, my voice going all raspy, blocking all the words I wanted to say. They weren’t things she ever needed to hear.

“Why so cruel to me? You aren’t to the other girls you date and dump. Why single me out?”

I seethed. “And it didn’t take you long to find someone else, now did it? How is Spider? Does he get you hot like I did?”

She smirked. “He’s fine. He thinks I hung the moon. He thinks you’re an ass. I agree.”

I tightened my fists and pressed them against my thighs, swearing to myself I wasn’t responding to her bait. I swore. She was a dangerous game I didn’t need to play.

Suddenly, her face fell. Was she recalling the last time we were together? Was she remembering how I used to…

“I trusted you,” she whispered, all her anger seeming to be gone. The unsteadiness of her voice undid me, sent me right over the edge of that precarious cliff I’d been hanging on to by the skin of my teeth.

Yeah, she hadn’t been the only one who’d trusted me. I’d ruined them all. Every last one. Dark thoughts assaulted me, of the blood I had on my hands.

Snap! My pencil broke and small pieces flew across my desk and into the empty space between us.
I wanted to pummel my desk until my fists bled. I wanted to punch a hole through the wall, the floor, my face.

Everything was my fault. Just mine.

She’d been collateral damage, the kind that breaks everyone involved. And I was sorry for it, but sometimes you do what hurts because it’s for the best.

But she was my kryptonite, leaving me no option but to hurt her. Again.

I didn’t think about my cruel words, I just said them. “You were a curiosity, Dovey. You weren’t the usual BA girl, and I wanted a taste. That’s all. I moved on when it got boring. Get over it.”

Excerpt & Message from Laura:

It’s release day! And I’m so excited to share Hard As You Can, the second book in the Hard Ink series, with all of you here today! Hard As You Can follows the surviving members of a disgraced Army Special Forces team as they fight to regain their stolen honor, and finds their investigation crossing paths with a waitress willing to do whatever it takes to stay alive and protect her younger sister. For Shane McCallan, saving Crystal Dean is a mission he refuses to turn down.

Today, I’ve got a scene filled with lots of sexual tension and emotion to share with you, one that I absolutely adored writing! I hope you enjoy this look into the growing attraction between Shane and Crystal from Hard As You Can:

"I didn’t mean to criticize you, Crystal. I just cannot abide violence against women. Period. Especially not someone I know." A long pause. "And definitely not someone I like." After everything that had happened to her, the words were a balm for her psyche.

Footsteps came up behind her, slowly, cautiously, like she was a wild animal who would bolt in an instant. And she supposed there was some truth to that analogy.

Torn between returning to the danger she knew or staying with the one she didn’t, Crystal debated. Her heart told her Shane might well be the most dangerous man she’d ever met because he made her want, wish, maybe even dream.

Not at all sure it was a good idea, Crystal slowly turned.

Shane was right in front of her. A rock in the middle of a raging sea, a refuge she might claim if she had the strength and the will and the nerve to fight for it. To believe she deserved it. She hugged herself.

"Hey," he said, cupping her face in his big hands. His fingers slid behind her neck and gently massaged.

She shook her head and glanced toward the treetops in an effort to pinch off the sting building behind her eyes. Why did she have to meet him now? She’d had a plan, and all she’d needed to do was follow it for a few more months. "You don’t even know me."

"No. Not everything. But I know more than a little. And that much I like enough to want to know more." His fingers rubbed her neck, gently, soothingly.

And his words, well, his words were perfect. Maybe even too much so. Too good to be true, she thought. "I already told you I’d share what I’d learned. You don’t have to play me."

His eyes narrowed, and he frowned. "You listen hard and you listen good, sweetness," he said, the words firm but the tone urgent, almost desperate, and laced with his southern accent. "I’m not perfect, and God knows I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life. But I would never play with a woman’s emotions to get information out of her. That kind of manipulation doesn’t hold with me. Ever."

Sweetness. She’d heard everything he’d said. The passion with which he’d said it. The sincerity that burned from his gaze as the words had poured from his lips. But it was the term of endearment that reached into her chest and gripped her heart. For a long moment, they stood there, bodies touching, faces inches apart, his hands holding her in that firm-but-gentle way he had.

Thunder rumbled again, closer this time, and her heart was a drum beat double-timing inside her chest. If his hands didn’t feel it racing, he’d have to hear it, because the sound was a loud rush rush in her ears. Beneath the sports bra and tank, her nipples went hard. If his gaze dropped, she knew he’d see, but she couldn’t bring herself to feel self-conscious about it. Not when he was looking at her like he wanted to devour her.

His gaze dropped to her lips.

She shuddered, everything inside her but the smallest voice of reason crying out for him to do it. Just once.

"Tell me not to," he said, his voice a raw scrape.

So that’s Shane and Crystal for you! Did you have a favorite line? Thanks for reading!

Review ~ OUT TODAY ~ Donners of the Dead by Karina Halle

**ARC Recieved for honest review**

Reviewed by Willow ~ 4.5 Stars

As you know I am a massive Karina Halle fan so was excited as always when I heard she had another book coming out, but I'll be upfront, I was really worried it wasn't going to be for me. But not because of the horror aspect, because it's set in the 1850's. I don't tend to read books that are set in the past, so I did start to read this book with trepidation that I might not enjoy it as much as her other books.

I was wrong.

Karina just has a way with words that captures your imagination and after reading the first chapter my fear had completely been forgotten, I was sucked in deep. I said I would just read for half an hour, but two hours whizzed by in the blink of an eye. Something about this book felt raw and gritty and I wanted more of it.

The story is about Eve, a young half Native girl who lives with her Uncle on his farm. Her father, a native, was the best tracker around the little settlement of River Bend. But with him missing, when five strangers roll in looking for a local tracker, it's Eve's name on everyone's lips. With her Uncle striking a deal with the strangers, Eve sets off with her friend, Avery and a female escort Donna. Their mission ~ to find out what had happened to George Clark, a family member of one of the strangers. He had set out for the Donner Party trail and never returned.

"Jake was in the Texas Rangers with me. We fought Monterey together. He's the best shot I've ever met, the best horsemam, and -if you believe the rumours- has killed a bear or two with only a pocket knife."

Jake McGraw, one of the five strangers, did not appear to like Eve. He is cold towards her and hardly speaks. Eve does not care much for him either and tries to keep out of his way but with her being the tracker, she has to be up front with him and not with her companions. As Eve spends time with these strangers and listens to their story of why they are out here searching, she starts to doubt their tale. She's doesn't have time to worry about it though when it soon becomes clear that they are not out there alone.

They are being stalked by something or someone.

With stories of the Donner Party turning towards Cannibalism to fight to stay alive during the harsh winter they were stranded in these parts, and then Eve's party finding bones, Eve worries what's out there? Man or Monster?

With the party being picked off one by one, Eve must look towards Jake to stay alive. As the two spend more time together fighting to survive, they start to become closer. But will they get out with their lives?

This book had me teetering on the edge of my seat the whole way through. It felt edgy and original and nothing like I had read before. Karina has an amazing, dark and scary imagination and a brilliant talent of getting this imagination into words to make the reader forget where they are, forget time and feel the horror her characters feel.

Blog Tour ~ Excerpt, Review & Giveaway ~ Entangled (The Fullerton Family Saga 2) by Ginger Voight

Following on from yesterdays post, today we bring you the review for book 2 in The Fullerton Family Saga ~ Entangled

Book 2 ~ Entangled

Book Description:

The saga continues for Rachel Dennehy, the tenacious small-town teacher caught in between two compelling, powerful brothers.

****This is Book 2 in the series. Blurb may contain spoilers for Book 1.****

In Book 2 of the Fullerton Family Saga, teacher Rachel Dennehy heads back to California to save her favorite little boy from his rapid downward spiral. She feels responsible for Jonathan’s destructive behavior, knowing it was her broken promise that sent him off the rails. She moves in with Alex, a man who had been her nemesis for so long. Thrust together with the shared goal of saving Jonathan, they find more in common than they had realized.

In fact, it is Alex who comes to her rescue Drew confronts Rachel over her “betrayal.” The chemistry still burns hot between them, but Rachel cannot forgive Drew’s cruel deception. Unfortunately he is unwilling to let her go. Drew Fullerton doesn’t like to lose, especially to his younger brother. So he proceeds with his plan to win her back, using every trick in the book to force her hand, including his son.

Young Jonathan holds fast to his dream of a real family, which tears her in yet another direction. Her heart is torn between the three Fullertons, all of whom need her in very different ways. Someone is going to get hurt, no matter what she does. She struggles to do what is right, even when she finds it puts her at direct odds with what she wants.

How far must Rachel go to win back Jonathan’s trust, and protect the men she has grown to love?

Excerpt:

I sucked in a breath as I looked up into those piercing blue eyes that held me captive in their gaze. I hadn’t seen him in months, but his effect on me was no less devastating. My body still burned from his possessive imprint as his eyes traveled over my face and down across my body, which was firing to life just from the echo of his touch. "So you are here," he said as he pushed his way into the house. "I thought it was a joke."

I stared after him helplessly. "Drew, I really don’t think you should be here. Jonathan is due any minute…," I started, but he was quick to cut me off.

"Jonathan’s not coming. I’ve petitioned the judge to prevent Jonathan from being educated here in the home of the man who blew his life apart. Twice," he added bitterly. "If you want to teach Jonathan, you need to do it either in Elise’s home or in mine."

I crossed my arms in front of me. "That’s not happening," I told him.

He sneered at me. "So you’ve switched teams, is that it?"

"No," I answered. "I’m on the same team I’ve always been on. Team Jonathan."

Drew chortled. "You really are a piece of work, Miss Dennehy," he emphasized spitefully. He glanced around his mother’s family home with pained nostalgia on his face. "But I suppose one Fullerton brother is as good as the other. He’s got the fancy home, the big bank account. Nothing as big as mine, of course, but few things are," he added with an evil sneer. "And of course, a motherless son. That’s the most important piece of the puzzle, is it not?"

I glared at him. "Get out, Drew."

He stalked toward me. "Truth hurt?" he asked when he stopped a mere inch apart from where I stood.

"You wouldn’t know the truth if you tripped over it," I gritted between clinched teeth. "Your jealous ranting is wasted when I know you never really wanted me in the first place."

"You think not?" he asked in a low voice. His eyes were lethal as he closed the gap between us, until his massive, rock-solid chest was pressed against my tightly clenched arms. "Did it only take three months to forget what it felt like to have me inside you?"

I gasped slightly, taken aback by his bold comment. He took advantage of that opportunity to grasp my wrist in one powerful hand and yank me against his body, which was both hard and forbidding. His mouth hovered over mine by a mere breath. "I haven’t forgotten," he said as his other hand ran down my back and over the curve of my hip. "I dream about you every night. I still feel you wrapped around me, pulling me in deeper and deeper inside of you until I lost myself in all that you are."

My resolve slipped under the assault of his seductive words. I shook my head. "Drew, please."

His eyes glittered. "I’ve heard you beg me before. Remember?"

I shuddered in spite of myself. As mad as I had been, as hurt and betrayed, Drew still haunted my dreams. I hadn’t forgotten how I came alive at his touch. Just being this close to him had me flushed with forbidden excitement. I wanted him despite past history and despite my better judgment. I had to remind myself that this was likely another game.

But the hard, insistent bulge pressing against my leg suggested otherwise.

I opened my mouth to protest, and his lips crushed mine. I could taste strong bourbon on his tongue. It was early in the day for him to be drinking. Clearly he had been in a downward spiral similar to his son. It fueled his possessive kiss with anger and entitlement. I began to struggle against him the minute his hand clamped over my breast. "No," I murmured against his mouth as I tried to pull away, but he held me fast.
"Tell me you don’t want me," he demanded. "I can feel it in the way your body responds to mine, like it knows whom it belongs to."

"I belong to no one," I insisted as I tried to pull away, but he swept me into his arms.

"You think not?" he challenged again as he carried me toward the staircase.

"What are you doing?" I squealed, too afraid to kick myself free and send us toppling down the stairs.

"Claiming what’s mine," he informed me coldly as he reached the landing.

“If it’s right, it’s worth waiting for.”

This book begins where Enticed left off, after Drew’s betrayal, Rachel has gone back to Texas. Jonathan does not take her desertion very well and changes as a child. He has become disobedient, withdrawn and angry and the family are extremely worried about his well-being. It takes a lot of humble pie but Alex goes to Texas to bring Rachel back. Jonathan needs her and no matter what, Jonathan comes first. Alex knows that Rachel sees Jonathan as her own and he uses her feelings to get her to capitulate and go back with him to California. He says that she can stay on his ranch so that she does not have to interact with Drew if she doesn’t want to.

Despite everything that has happened, although my first team is TEAM JONATHAN, as far as the love story goes I am TEAM DREW. As much as I love Alex (and I do a lot!) I just feel that Drew really truly loves Rachel in his own way. Drew has never really been shown love at all, he struggles with this emotion and whilst he goes all about it the wrong way, I do feel that for once, what he feels is honest to goodness love. He just needs to learn to show it a bit better!

I love the way that this book centres around Jonathan, Rachel and Alex. You do get to see another side to Alex and this will open your heart to the other Fullerton brother. It seems that Rachel has her work cut out surrounded by all these Fullerton men.

“After all, I am the one that got her to come back to California. And I did it without lying to her about why I wanted her here. Score one for honesty.”

“Please,” Drew sneered. “You know the only reason you want her is because I do. You have to wreck this like you wreck everything else, because you're jealous of me and you always have been.”

It does seem that there is a unhealthy competition between Alex and Drew and we are treated to little snippets of information throughout the story about their back ground and history. It takes a great author to have you fall in love with both protagonists and that is what Ginger Voight managed to do to me. At one point I was completely torn, I hated her with a vengeance. I was screaming at my kindle and crying like a baby. I know a lot of people may have an issue with a woman playing ping pong between two brothers but it was not like that at all. Yes I did get angry, yes at times I was confused but to a certain extent you could sympathise. However, fate has a way of dealing hands where you least expect it and that is no different in this book. Talk about pull the wool over your eyes and the rug from under your feet.

What can I say, as much as I would love to go into the finer details and the nitty gritty’s I can’t, it would spoil it for you. I cannot wait to see where this story is going to go. No matter what team you are on you will be chomping at the bit for book 3 and that is not too far away, only a few more days! It took an all evening and all-nighter to read the first two instalments of this book and I am extremely lucky that I have book 3 sitting here waiting for me to devour, so I will sign off now as I have a date with Enraptured.

“I know you want me. I feel it in the way you tremble. I’ve felt you tremble like this before, remember? I told you then that you would always be mine. And you know it’s true. Your body responds to my touch like a slave to its master.”

Book 1 ~ Enticed

Book Description:

Rachel Dennehy had a crazy thought. If she could just start over somewhere else, she could forget about her sad and tragic past and all the ghosts that chased her. When an email landed in her inbox, to tutor a difficult student whose father just happened to be the CEO of one of the biggest companies in the nation, the apple was a bit too enticing for Rachel to refuse. She moves from Texas to Beverly Hills, where she is tasked with turning around her wealthy pupil’s bad attitude. It is a bad attitude that stems almost entirely from his parents’ ugly divorce and even uglier custody battle.

That her new boss Andrew, or Drew, Fullerton is one of the handsomest and most eligible bachelors in the world means nothing to Rachel. She has absolutely no plans to ever marry or have kids of her own. Her priority is teaching nine-year-old Jonathan, who needs her guidance and her direction and… most importantly… her friendship.Drew’s brother, Alex, however, assumes otherwise. He basically accuses her of being a gold-digging opportunist upon their first meeting. This sets the two immediately at odds, though they both have young Jonathan’s best interest at heart. Alex believes that Rachel is a “ringer,” a wholesome alternative to edge Jonathan’s socialite mother out of the running for custody, since she left Drew after her own salacious affair with a younger man. He wastes no time in telling Rachel that as long as she stays in her job, she will keep Jonathan from his real mother, and that is the driving force behind Drew’s interest. Unfortunately the more he tries to warn her away from Drew, the closer he ultimately propels her toward her charming boss.

Drew never questions her motivation or her presence because Jonathan thrives under her tutelage, and Drew is beguiled by her no-nonsense attitude that challenges him from the start.Rachel navigates these choppy waters solely to protect Jonathan. She sees the adults in the family as self-serving; most of whom are far more interested in hurting each other than taking care of this fragile, vulnerable boy. Her heart traps her into this sticky web, despite her own history of loss and betrayal. How long will she last? More importantly, what will she be required to give to save these Fullerton men who continually tug her in three different directions?

The saga begins with the first book, titled “Enticed,” due to release in early 2014. Author Ginger Voight returns to the dream-making landscape of Los Angeles, in a new tale that throws back the curtain on the dangerous power, appeal and excess of the privileged. Only by the time this tale is done, one principle character will pay the ultimate price as they all race toward that elusive happily ever after.

Excerpt:

“Enjoy your ‘me’ day?” Alex asked.

I felt my face flush and I cursed the knowing glint that shone in his eyes. “It was lovely,” I said.
“I bet,” he murmured as he studied my face. “Same time next week?”
I nodded and followed him to the front door. He stopped just before I could shut the door behind him. He looked as though he wanted to say something desperately, but debated doing it right up until he opened his mouth. I’m not sure even he knew what he was going to say until he said it. “Maybe next week you and I can spend the day together while Jonathan visits his mom.”
My eyes opened wide as I processed his unusual proposal. “Are you asking me on a date?”
“You’re single, right?” he asked. “You’re available, no prospective suitors. Nothing going on,” he probed. “Why not?”
“Other than the fact I don’t like you?”
He laughed. “You don’t like me because you don’t know me. Let’s rectify that.” His eyes narrowed as he surveyed my face. “Then maybe next weekend I can be the one who causes the blush to rise in your cheeks.”
I glared at him and stepped backward. “Goodbye, Alex,” I dismissed.”

“I’m used to people leaving. I don’t get attached anymore. I know better.”

I fell in love with Giner Voight’s writing when I read the Groupie series, I fell in love with those characters and Ginger Voight did it again with the Fullerton’s. I must say, the person that totally stole my heart in this trilogy is Jonathan Fullerton, he was a little boy caught up in amongst the “grown up” circus that his family has become. This little boy captivated me totally and there was nothing I wouldn’t have done to protect him, he was like my own child and Ginger Voight portrayed this lost soul beautifully.

Rachel Dennehy is a school teacher back in Texas, she has had her own fair share of heart ache and has sworn off men for the rest of her life. Her best friend Nancy tries her best to pair her up with eligible men, but Rachel has no interest at all and is getting pretty peeved with her friends meddling. It is off the back of one those meddling missions that Rachel receives an email from Drew Fullerton requesting her services to home school his son Jonathan. Feeling caged in Texas she decides that perhaps this is the break that she needs and heads off to The Fullerton mansion in Beverly Hills to undertake what seems to be mission impossible and try and tame this rampant nine year old. The six figure salary is a great incentive, but to Rachel this is all about Jonathan and very soon these two are as thick as thieves. Rachel works wonders on Jonathan and Jonathan finally has that bit of stability that he craves.

It soon becomes clear that the Fullerton family is not all that it seems, the family dynamic is shot to pieces, we have an extremely messy divorce, a fraught custody battle and two brothers that seem to hate each other with a vengeance. Drew Fullerton is one sexy as hell alpha male, he is a control freak, extremely intimidating but throughout this story Rachel seems to slowly but surely reveal his softer side. His ultimate goal is to regain full custody of his son Jonathan and he is putting all his eggs firmly in Rachel’s basket. He believes that she is the reason that the judge will award him custody but does he have an ulterior motive? There is an attraction between Drew and Rachel, the professional lines are crossed at times and do become a bit hazy, but Rachel tries her hardest to keep on the right side. At the end of the day her whole reason for being there is Jonathan and that is where her priorities and loyalties lie.

“My bedroom door will be unlocked tonight and every night thereafter. You hold the key, Rachel. Come to me when you’re ready to lock us both inside.”

Alex is Drew’s brother, he seems to have cast his loyalties with Drew’s ex and this is not going down well. It seems that Alex has crossed a few lines himself and siding with the enemy causes nothing but problems. But as in true Ginger Voight style, nothing is all that it seems and Alex himself is one very complex character. Oh and also extremely attractive and a rancher…did I forget to mention that…so yes you have two tasty Fullerton men to drool over!

To me, this book is all about Jonathan, yes Drew and Alex are a necessary complication and very distracting they are too, but what kept me gripped to what turned out to an all-night reading fest as I read this and the next in the series was Jonathan. That little boy did a number on me and all I could think about was him. He has a mesmerising charm about him that will captivate your heart. He is an old soul in a young persons body and this truly brings home the affects that messy divorces have on children and how they feel the need to pledge allegiance to one side or another. They don’t want to upset either party and want to try and be the peace maker, but with blinkered adults thrown into the mix this will always be an up-hill battle.

"If they're yelling at me, then they're not yelling at each other."

I loved this story and as I said I started the next one straight after even though it meant no sleep. The following night I read the third as I had to see where the story was going. I will say that Ginger Voight got me feeling a whirlwind of emotions throughout this trilogy so keep your eyes peeled for the next review. This is one series that you will want to read.

“The world was his oyster, but he had wanted me.”
