Blog Tour ~ Driven (The Driven Trilogy 1) by K Bromberg

Today we've got our review of Driven by K Bromberg, along with an Excerpt, character profiles and a giveaway from the author!

About the book: Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man that just might make her enjoy losing it…

I am the exception to the rule.

In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.

Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.

I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?

Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?

I loved this book, and I totally fell in love with Colton Donovan, another one added to the little black book!! I highlighted loads during this book so I will share a few of my favourites…
“Let’s get one thing clear” he growls at me. “I. Do. Not. Take. What’s. Not. Offered. And we both know, sweetheart, you offered,” he smirks. “Willingly”.
“An angel fighting through the darkness or a devil breaking into the light?”
“I bet he f**ks like he drives – a little reckless, pushing all the limits, and in until the very last lap”
“My inner slut”, I reiterate, nodding my head, “I like that, but I think she’s lost”.
“Oh we can find her sister!” she snickers. “She is probably hiding behind the layers of cobwebs covering your crotch”.
This was a fab book for a debut author and it was long…so well worth the pennies!! It was nice for once to actually get stuck into a book and actually feel like you have read a book…it did drag a little in parts so a little could have perhaps been edited but in no way did it detract from the story. I did not want to put the book down.
Rylee was brilliant, she was strong, she wore her heart on her sleeve, she was selfless and had a tendency to always put others first before herself. She was passionate about her job and the kids that she helped all the while dealing with her own demons and past that she was still trying to recover from.
Colton Donovan, gorgeous, race car driver, entrepreneur and philanthropist…a mixed bag…but also has his own problems “I know all about baggage, sweetheart. I have enough of it to fill up a 747 and then some” He does not do relationships, he has casual flings whereby rules are stated in advance for as long as the fling continues, there will never be more! At first he thinks that Rylee is a contender for one of these arrangements but he soon realises that she is more,  a lot more! We are still kept in the dark regarding Colton’s past and I for one want to get to know him better, what is his baggage?? What has caused his nightmares?? But we can all let that slide, because Donovan captures your heart, he has a dirty mouth and knows it and uses it to his best advantage “I can’t figure out which is hotter Rylee, watching you come or making you come” sigh!!!
The chemistry between these two is smoking hot and you felt it whenever they were together, they both had very intense feelings towards each other and were both scared by what they were feeling, but you just loved them as a couple and were willing them to get it on and get it together, they were so good for each other, you could not help but root for them.
“The fact that he scares you might be a good thing. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone”
This was a fab emotional read and I cannot wait for the next in the series, this does end on a sort of cliff hanger that had me sobbing…so I am begging K Bromberg to get Fueled finished and published ASAP because I need to see that Colton gets fixed….
How can those words, so possessive, so dominantly male, make me want him that much more? I’m an independent, self-assured woman and yet hearing that this man—yes, Colton Donavan—inform me that he is going to have me without asking, without giving me a choice, makes me weak in the knees.

“It might not be tonight, Rylee. It might not be tomorrow night,” he promises, the rumbling timber of his voice vibrating through my body, “but it will happen.” My breath hitches as he pauses, allowing his words sink in before he continues. “Don’t you feel it, Rylee? This--” he says gesturing a hand between him and I, “this charge we have here? The electricity we have when we’re together is way too strong to ignore.” I lower my eyes, uncomfortable with his overconfidence yet turned on by his words. He takes a hand and reaches out, the spark he’s referring to igniting when his index finger trails up the underside of my neck to my chin. He pushes up to lift my chin so that I’m forced to stare into the depths of his eyes. “Aren’t you the least bit curious how good it will be? If it’s this electrifying with just the brush of our skin against each other, can you imagine what it will be like when I’m buried inside of you?”

The confidence in his words and the intensity of his stare nonpluses me, and I avert my eyes down again to focus on the ring I’m worrying around my right ring finger. The rational part of me knows that once Colton has his way with me, he’ll move on. And even though I’d know this going into it, I’d still be devastated in the end.

I just don’t want to go through it again. I’m afraid to feel again. Afraid to take a chance for the consequences before were life-altering for me. I use my fear to fuel my obstinance; no matter how wild of a ride, the inevitable fallout isn’t worth it to me.

“You’re so sure of yourself, do I even need to show up for the event?” I say haughtily, hoping my words cover for the deep ache he’s responsible for creating in my body. His only response to my question is a heart-stopping smirk. I shake me head at him, “Thanks for the warning, Ace, but no thanks.”

“Oh, Rylee,” he admonishes with a laugh. “There’s that smart mouth that I find so intriguing and sexy. It disappeared for a little while with your nerves. I was getting worried.” He reaches over and squeezes my hand. “Oh, and Ryles, just so you know, that wasn’t a warning, sweetheart. That was a promise.”

K. Bromberg was born and raised in Southern California.  She graduated from University of California at San Diego with two bachelors—economics and political science—but always loved to write.
K. Bromberg remains in Southern California with her husband and their three young children. When not writing or working her day job, she can be found playing ninjas or power rangers with her son, fixing the hair of her oldest daughter’s American girl doll, trying to potty train her youngest daughter, or listening to any or all of them fight/whine at once.  When she needs a break from the daily chaos, you can almost always find her with Kindle in hand, devouring the pages of a good book or mentally outlining her next set of characters.
Driven is K. Bromberg’s first published novel and the first book in “The Driven Trilogy.”
