Friday Frights ~ PNR Review ~ Flame Unleashed (Hell to Pay #3) by Jillian David

Book Description:

When Civil War nurse Ruth Blackstone sacrificed her soul to save her husband's life, he utterly betrayed her trust. Now, 150 years later, she's still stuck killing depraved souls to feed her devil of a boss, Jerahmeel. She's never been one for hair-brained schemes or sweet-talking flirts. That is, until she meets Cajun rogue Odie Pierre-Noir.

Odie has the research and the war plan to overthrow Jerahmeel and win freedom for all Indebteds. There's just one hitch: he needs Ruth to act as bait. With charm on his side, he shows Ruth an intense passion she's never experienced before.

Now Ruth must make the hardest decision of her long, damned life: continue in relative safety as an Indebted with Odie as her lover, or risk their eternal souls for one chance to break the curse. Will she choose the lesser evil?

What a last book in this brilliant series. It is well written and is sensual with a gripping story and comes to a resounding crescendo at the end. Fabulous.

Flame Unleashed is about a love from long ago that had put Ruth Blackstone on the soul destroying road of being an Indebted one. In this book it shows a very brave woman having to do the bidding of the murderous knife that every Indebted has to carry and use for Jerahmeel, that evil incarnate.

Flame Unleased is about the love of a special man who had become like a father to Ruth and through him she meets another Indebted Odilon Pierre-Noir, who sprung into her life, and has slowly broken down the barriers that Ruth had erected in herself so that she could cope with the life she now lived because of Jerahmeel.

Odilon or Odie as he likes to be called now has been an Indebted for a very long time and has been living in New Orleans for quite a long time. Then one night he is confronted by the sight of a beautiful woman who looked as though she had got herself into a dangerous situation so he had gone to the rescue and it was only after killing the man she had been with he was to find that she was an Indebted just like him.

The story begins for them from this point on. The more Odie got to know Ruth the more he was being drawn in because of her beauty and the real Ruth that he would love to find from the woman that she puts out for the world to see. The attraction he felt for this woman was very strong, bringing out feelings from inside himself he hadn't felt for a very long time.

As for Ruth, when she saw Odie again after that disastrous first meeting the tug she had felt from being in his presence became stronger and the attraction to this handsome man with the sexy voice becomes even stronger but it takes a lot to be able to trust again after what her husband had done to her so long ago.

A scheme Odie has puts Ruth in a very dangerous position which brings them closer together and brings the attraction they both feel to the fore that makes Ruth bring her barriers down and they spend an unforgettable time together that makes both of them see what they had together.

"His moans and her cries mixed in a crescendo of passion as he brought them to the peak together. He stroked her strong legs and thighs as his fast, pounding rhythm drove them both to the edge. They both came crashing down as her tight muscles held him while he spilled his sterile, Indebted seed inside of her. He rode her orgasm, teasing her to peak time and again as her pleasure continued. As he shifted, tiny aftershocks made her clench around him until he grew hard once more."

The story continues, it has sadness as well as great happiness. It brings these three books together to a brilliant climax.

Ms David for a first time author your series is stunning and I hope to read more of your future books that you are able to write. Amazing book.
