Friday Frights ~ PNR Review ~ Jax (The Protectors #8) by Teresa Gabelman

Book Description:

Jax Wheeler has been fighting his own demons for as long as he can remember. One of those demons is from his past, a brother who wants nothing more to see Jax suffer. Working closely with the Cincinnati Branch of the VC Warriors Jax never thought he would find someone who could help him ease his pain, but he was wrong.

Having a past of her own, Caroline Fitzpatrick has survived being put into a trance by a madman who wanted to control her sister, a abusive relationship, communicating with the dead, but nothing has prepared her for Jax Wheeler. From the moment she saw him the attraction was immediate, but the attraction was not mutual or was it?

The more Jax tries to stay away from Caroline, the more he finds himself at her door, in her life. All he knows is that every minute he spends with the beautiful school teacher, the more danger he puts her in. His brother’s vengeance of wanting him to suffer has put Caroline in the line of fire and only Jax can protect her.

This amazing series I have followed from Book 1. They are chock full of gorgeous alpha warriors out to save innocents. They have humour, sensual sex and have really great story lines and this book is no exception. This book is about Jax, my favourite warrior.

The dark brooding Native American vampire appealed to me in so many ways, and if there was anyone who should have a happy ever after it is this brave warrior. But Jax being Jax nothing would come easy for him. He is such a complex man who carried so much pain inside himself. His past had been brutal and the evil that his brother Mika had caused to him, his family and their tribe and any innocents who had got in his way was beyond belief. In Jax's world his brother needed to be eliminated and that was his main goal in life, especially after killing their sweet innocent sister Alisha just to hurt Jax. Her death needed to be avenged.

This history has made Jax what he is today. Jax's emotions are so deeply embedded in him that it appeared he had none until he met a certain school teacher by the name of Caroline who was slowly turning his world upside down. When Caroline first met Jax the attraction she felt for him went deep and the more she saw him she knew he was the man for her but to try and get that across to the silent Jax was so difficult. Any conversation she tried to engage with him he kept short and it didn't help with him keeping himself to the outside edge whenever the other warriors came round to Caroline's doer upper home that Caroline was working on.

But for all that Caroline thought he wasn't totally indifferent to her as she would catch him looking at her in that unfathomable way of his. She knew how she felt about this gorgeous male warrior and for him she was willing to be patient because she knew if she did manage to get under the barrier that Jax had surrounded himself in it would surpass anything she had felt before.

This book tells you of the complicated attraction that these two have and the ups and downs they go through but Caroline slowly managed to get this loner of a man to open up to her. You will read of his loneliness that only Caroline has been able to break through and as they get closer she found what a demanding lover he was and for Jax their first time together he was blown away by the look of passion on Caroline's face.

“He couldn't stop looking at her, drinking her in. Her eyes told him everything he needed to know. She was ready for him.”

And slowly as the passion built between them.

“With each thrust, Caroline met him with fierce determination to give him as much pleasure as he was intent on giving her; he could read it on her face, in every touch and the way she responded to him. She wrapped her legs around his waist, helping him sink deeper inside her, and that was all it took. He reached between her legs, pinching and caressing, because no way in hell was he going to ride this wave alone. She would be riding it with him.”

But not only is this book about their budding romance there is so much more to this book. What with Jax's brother Mika causing all sorts of problems for Jax and even a part of Caroline's past comes knocking on her door.

I hope you enjoy and love this book as much as I did. I highly recommend you read this series it is brilliant.
