“You still belong to me. You still belong to me. Yes, I did belong to him. But I belonged to Amber too.”

Laurelin Paige is one evil woman! I had been anxious to read this once since its release but because of a strict reading schedule I had to wait DAYS!! Days of avoiding social media like the plague just in case it got spoiled. So when the day came to dive in, I dived in with gusto and it wasn’t long before I was on the edge of my seat…where I firmly remained for the rest of the book. Last Kiss begins where First Touch ended and Laurelin Paige throws you into the mix head first…no toe dipping here.

“…and the smell of sea hit my nose, and I wondered how it was possible to be this alive in the world and yet feel so alone. How it was possible to recognize there was so much beauty in everything and yet not feel part of it at all.”

To be honest, I cannot really say much about the story at all, everything is a spoiler, so this is going to be all about thoughts and feelings and there are a lot of them. Laurelin Paige exacted this story with expert precision and a creative flair that has you salivating for the next word and the next clue. I found myself appreciating the thought and plotting that must have gone into this because the way this story slowly unfolded and then exploded was nothing short of phenomenal.

“Both cruelty and delight played on his features, and while it disgusted me to admit, it was the combination of those emotions that turned me on. He was ruthless, and he enjoyed being ruthless. And he enjoyed that his viciousness was what pleased me the most.”

Laurelin Paige delivers an angst filled ride that will have you extremely frustrated, in tears at times and wanting to cut a bitch at others. Laurelin Paige slowly eked out every single one of my emotions with ease as she totally captivated me with the finale of Emily and Reeve’s story. At times I had to toss my kindle in the vain hope that someone would meet an untimely death, nothing short of what was deserved by the end, but alas, Laurelin Paige makes you wait. Laurelin Paige expertly draws in you in, chews you up and spits you out, rather unceremoniously but none the less a journey that will leave you appreciating everything you have just read and just sitting back, catching a breath, saying, darn…that was clever.

I do love a good romantic suspense and I find myself reading more and more as my reading tastes change and I have to say that this duet is one of my favourites. The character connection is on point, the chemistry is off the charts and the plot is so expertly weaved that you are left frantically guessing what the hell is going on. For me, the jigsaw puzzle finally made sense towards the end and I had an inkling as to how all this came about, while I was right about the culprit behind everything, the lengths to which that person went to was nothing short of shocking and surprising. Laurelin Paige certainly pens conniving individuals that I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of.

What I did love about this finale was we finally got the back ground behind Emily and Amber. Emily’s loyalty to her best friend has always been a tad extreme, but now I finally get it. Emily’s submissive and co-dependency issues all stem from this friendship that was borne from naivety and trust. Emily was manipulative under the guise of friendship and for me, I felt as if Amber had actually groomed a vulnerable Emily. All Emily wanted was friendship, but what did Amber truly want?

“It was then I caught the first glimpse of the person I would become, and the role Amber would play in my life as the first master I wanted to please.”

Reeve, as in book one, was adorable, yes, he is still that enigma and you will be desperate to peel back his layers and dig into his history. Emily is probably the only person that can get him to expose his true self and his vulnerabilities and Reeve truly shows a different side to himself in Last Kiss. I loved seeing this different side to him, it only made him all the more endearing and while he was captivating before, he is definitely BBF material now. So protective, so alpha, moody yet sensitive, intense, brooding and positively private but that all adds to that air of mystery that constantly surrounds him.

“But that was the thing about Reeve – he played he was subtle in the way he held his cards. So subtle, it was almost impossible to discern whether he was even playing the game.”

This was a fantastic finale, one that I won’t be forgetting in a hurry. One where I had palpitations at the end and no finger nails. Yes, it was intense, yes it was frustrating, yes I feel like I have run an emotional marathon but I do know that I read a fantastic book.

“I can’t control myself when I am inside you…I want to tear you apart. I want to rip you to shreds…I want to destroy you…Want to fuck you to pieces. Want to shatter you. Want to break you.”

Excerpt:

Reeve smirked—he loved it when I begged—but he didn’t take me where I wanted to go. Instead, with his fingers pinching my chin, he twisted my face so that my cheek pressed against the glass.

“Look,” he said in reverence.

The mirror ran the whole wall behind me then wrapped around the vanity so, facing this direction, I could see our reflections in the glass, half eclipsed by steam from the shower. He let go of me long enough to wipe the fog then resumed his grip on my jaw. I stared, transfixed by the sight of his cock driving into me over and over.

With my focus where he wanted it, Reeve rearranged my legs, bringing one foot up to brace on the counter and propping the other in the sink. Now I was angled so that my cunt could better be seen in the mirror. It was naughty and erotic and I couldn’t stop staring.

“Look at that,” he said again, his fingers jabbing into my skin. “The way you let me use you is so beautiful.”

Beautiful. It was beautiful. The way he had me spread out awkwardly across the bathroom sink, naked while he was still clothed—it was vile and wicked and oh, so beautiful.

“I can’t control myself when I’m inside you.” His voice was ragged and threadbare. “I want to tear you apart. I want to rip you to shreds.” He moved both of his hands to grasp my thighs, tilting my pelvis so that his thrusts hit even deeper. “I want to destroy you. Want to fuck you to pieces. Want to shatter you. Want to break you.”

His awful, wonderful words set a storm to gather low inside me, and I could tell that this time it wouldn’t back down. I shifted my hands from the counter to his forearms to brace myself for its attack. The movement drew his attention from the mirror to my face.

“Want to break you,” he repeated, his words more of a rumble than actual speech.

“You do,” I said, peering up under heavy lids, my voice a mere rasp. “You do break me. Every time.”

Reeve’s eyes sparked in awe, then the muscles in his neck grew taut and his rhythm stuttered. With a low growl, he froze and spilled into me, his fingers digging so deep into my skin I was sure they’d leave bruises on my thighs.

It was so hot, how he defiled and wrecked me. So hot how he loved to see me devastated. So hot that I joined him in his release. My mouth fell open and my climax took over, coarsely racking through my body. Even with the mirror supporting my back, I was freefalling, spinning with pleasure. Only a thin layer of sweat and steam covered my body, but it felt like I’d been pulled underwater into a whirlpool of bliss.

Reeve put himself away, then watched me as I finished, as if completely enamored with my orgasm. As if completely enamored with me.

It was somewhat disconcerting to feel his eyes so heavy on me. He’d seen me come so many times before, but I’d never noticed him so intent. I lowered my gaze, but he lifted my chin, forcing me to meet his stare head-on.

With a gentle touch, he swept a lock of sweat-drenched hair from my forehead. “Every time?”

He’d been tender with me in the past, but it wasn’t his usual M.O., and it startled me. Moved me as I realized it came from a place of concern.

“Yes,” I answered honestly, because he did break me, every time that he stuck his cock inside me, every time that he made me climax, every time that he touched me. Outside of the moment, when the sex was over and we were people instead of sex-driven beasts, it sounded horrible. Who would want to be broken by her lover? Who would want to be destroyed?

I do. I always did. I longed for it and needed it. I needed him.

I caught his hand and pressed the back of it to my cheek. “It’s the only reason I ever want to be someone who’s put together. So that you can break me all over again.”

About the Author:

NY Times & USA Today Bestselling author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender.
