Friday Frights ~ PNR Review ~ Legacy of Lies (Hells Valley) by Jillian David

Book Description:

Fans of the Hell to Pay series will love this new spin-off saga, Hell’s Legacy!

Garrison Taggart doesn’t have time to deal with touchy-feely junk like “trust issues” or “feelings.” His dad’s health is waning and the family’s Wyoming ranch is being sabotaged. Too bad his supernatural ability to tell when someone is lying has been exactly zero help in ferreting out the betrayer so far. So, when sweet schoolteacher Sara Lopez raises concerns about his son being bullied, who can blame a guy for getting a little testy?

The last thing Sara needs is any more attention or gossip after her recent breakup with big-shot rancher Hank Brand. So her attraction to surly but sexy Garrison, Hank’s rival, is entirely unwanted. When she uncovers an insane plot to kidnap the Taggart boy and throws herself in harm’s way to protect him, Garrison must risk his deepest secret and his own life to save the people he cares for the most. But will his heroics cost him everything?

What a brilliant start to this new series which is a spin-off of the Hell's Legacy saga. I have read every book; they were all superb and I think that this new series will be just as good if Legacy of Lies is anything to go by.

This book has a very sexy cowboy in Garrison Taggart, our main male character, who has a supernatural power of being able to tell if someone is lying to him, which at the moment is not helping with the troubles that are surrounding him.

Then you have a very attractive school teacher, Sara Lopez, the female main character, although she has a past that she is not proud of she is doing her utmost to put her past behind her if only her ex, Hank Brand, would let her.

This book has lots of very sensual loving between Garrison and Sara but there is also an evil madness that surrounds them which is doing its best to bring down the Taggart family and Sara. You meet the Taggart family who are a lively bunch and I especially loved Selby. All the Garrison’s siblings have some sort of supernatural power which in the story comes in very helpful as you will read about.

Legacy of Lies is about the coming together of Garrison and Sara and all its ups and downs, with Sara doing her level best to look out for Garrison’s son Zach who is going through a hard time at school and Sara doing her hardest to get through to Garrison who has trust problems where women are concerned.

But the strong attraction between these two flares up and while they were at Sara's house it all got too much and Garrison just had to kiss her.

“The contact took her from toasty to sizzling in the space of a breath. His kiss, insistent and hard, stole her breath. He'd bypassed tender hesitation and gone straight to devouring her whole. "God, you're beautiful."”

The feud between the Brands and Taggart's was putting pressure on the growing relationship and Sara's ex, Hank Brand, was causing big trouble in an indescribable way.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It keeps you interested from start to finish with plenty of surprises along the way making this a real page turner. I am looking forward to reading Book 2 Ms David. I can certainly see this series being a real winner.
