This is Me, Baby
by K. Webster
War & Peace Series
Publication Date: February 7, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Dark Romance

Book Description:

The game was over and they stole the victory away from ME.
Cheating. Lies. Corruption. Death.
This pawn never stood a chance.
But then he came for ME.
He plucked ME from my nightmare and kept me safe.

My heart was in tatters and my soul was lost.
Until the beast in ME woke up.
She was hungry and furious and didn’t play by the rules of their game.
We were a vicious team. And we changed the game altogether. I took what was theirs because they took what was mine.
ME against them.

That is…until I had someone else with ME.
Someone who vowed to fight alongside ME until the very end.
I don’t want the love he has for ME.
But the beast in ME still craves to take everything she deserves.
He should run far away from ME.
Instead, he runs straight for ME.

This is ME, baby and I am going to ruin them all.

“The tigress may have lost her tiger. But this tigress is not alone.”

K Webster took this book by the balls, wrung them out and hung them out to dry. This series has been one hell of a rollercoaster with murder and death the norm and any little chink of happiness cruelly ripped away and the dark and devastation just keeps on coming. But, and this is a huge but, it is not depressing, it is one hundred percent totally and utterly addictive and this is one series that I cannot stop reading despite the cluster fuck of epic proportions that just follows these characters around like a bad smell.

“I’m fucking afraid for you. Don’t be naïve, Brie. There are monsters everywhere.”

This is Me, Baby continues where This Isn’t You, Baby finished and the fallout is far from pretty. K Webster left us on a doozie at the end of This Isn’t You, Baby and I had been silently praying that all was not as it seems, but alas, prayers were not answered.

In the previous book I had very little character connection with Brie, I had not warmed up to her at all and found her highly irritating. However, she becomes a little more human in this book and while I cannot really understand her “moving on” from the events in the previous book, it makes for some hot, hot, hot reading.

Ren as ever, is totally adorable, but he is coming into his own in this book. Ren has definitely got his backbone, stands up to all around him and protects what is his, and he absolutely sees Brie as his. Long gone is the sweet boy, now we have a tatted, muscled and alpha version of Ren and the change is extremely welcome.

Brie is a shadow of her former self, lost in her grief and wallowing in her tears, but if anyone can bring her back from the brink it is Ren. Ren steps up to the plate and throws his heart and soul into it, not many men would put themselves through it, but to him, Brie is well worth the risk.

“My heart is big enough to love all of you.”

Brie makes some really stupid decisions in this book, but decisions she makes to extricate herself from a life she didn’t want. The repercussions though have life or death consequences and in true K Webster style, a lot of blood will be spilled…but whose is the question?

“This is war, brother.”

I have kept this review purposefully vague, a lot happens in this book, alliances and enemies are made with far reaching implications for all our favourite characters. War and Baylee play their parts, Hannah is a little absent but Gabe is all alpha, deranged and protective as ever while he is in Papa Bear mode. I can’t believe I am going to say this, but Gabe is actually growing on me…can leopards change their spots? While, he unquestionably is still one crazy mofo and I can never forgive him for his past indiscretions, K Webster is delivering a different side to him and you cannot help but be taken in by it.

I will say though, that as protection details go, this lot are as incompetent as they come but it makes for great, jaw dropping, heart racing reading. This series definitely has legs, with even more characters being introduced I am interested in where this series is going to go and with every one being involved in some crazy drug cartels the possibilities are endless. What does K Webster have up her sleeve next? With a few couplings intimated I cannot wait to read.
