Release Day Blitz & Review ~ The Queen and the Cure (The Bird and the Sword Chronicles #2) by Amy Harmon

THE QUEEN AND THE CURE by AMY HARMON

is LIVE!!!

Book Description:

There will be a battle, and you will need to protect your heart.

Kjell of Jeru had always known who he was. He'd never envied his brother or wanted to be king. He was the bastard son of the late King Zoltev and a servant girl, and the ignominy of his birth had never bothered him.

But there is more to a man than his parentage. More to a man than his blade, his size, or his skills, and all that Kjell once knew has shifted and changed. He is no longer simply Kjell of Jeru, a warrior defending the crown. Now he is a healer, one of the Gifted, and a man completely at odds with his power.

Called upon to rid the country of the last vestiges of the Volgar, Kjell stumbles upon a woman who has troubling glimpses of the future and no memory of the past. Armed with his unwanted gift and haunted by regret, Kjell becomes a reluctant savior, beset by old enemies and new expectations. With the woman by his side, Kjell embarks upon a journey where the greatest test may be finding the man she believes him to be.

“I remember, but I have not forgotten.”

Once again Amy Harmon managed to hold my soul hostage as she delivered another stunning and epic read set in the beloved fantasy land of Jeru. And once again, I am stunned as to what to write, because truly, anything I could say would never be enough. Amy Harmon’s trademark writing is ever present, flawless, emotional, captivating and the visceral scene setting as she sweeps you away into another epic battle of good versus evil was second to none. Reading this book is like watching a movie play on the big screen such is the clarity and vivid imagery with which this book is delivered. From epic battles, forbidden love to a forest awaiting to be awoken this book has it all and was an outstanding sequel to a book that I thought could never be toppled.

“He could only pray his growing obsession with having the fruit would not blind him to the snakes.”

The Queen and the Cure is simply enchanting, mesmerising, bewitching and beguiling as the world of Spinners, Changers, Healers and Tellers is brought to life in stunning technicolour and incredible believability. A fairy tale of legendary proportions with its raw, honest and hidden messages that gravitate to the reader as only Amy Harmon can. An exquisite story of good versus evil, where integrity is questioned and alliances tested. An ever-present layer of suspense interwoven with a breath-taking romance that will capture even the hardest of hearts. There is something for everyone.

“I don’t hate you…I don’t trust you. I don’t want to feel anything for you. And you are determined to make me your fool.”

This book encapsulates everything that Amy Harmon is about. Flawless writing, captivating storytelling, poetic prose, emotion in spades, character connection on another level and the sheer ability to transport the reader into the book, into the world and more importantly into the characters. This is Amy Harmon’s gift and with every book this author writes, the gifts just get bigger and better.

“I love the pieces of the woman who was lost but never misplaced her dignity, who couldn’t remember, but never really forgot. Who was a slave but behaved like a queen.”

This is the story of Tiras’s brother Kjell and Kjell is a character that you will instantly fall in love with despite his ornery demeanour. A man that is adrift, not knowing where his place is in the world, a man unsure of his beginnings and sceptical about his present. Kjell is a man that has been let down time and time again by those he has trusted and loved. Hesitant and reticent to open himself up again he is a soldier, a captain first and foremost, a destroyer of evil, a leader and love is the furthest thing from his mind…there are too many foes still to be slain.

“This slave woman, this red-haired paragon of virtue and long-suffering, would be his undoing, and it would not be a sweet unravelling.”

Sasha is a woman with a heart of gold despite the hand that she has been dealt. Stripped of her past and banished from her present. An unknown quantity in a world where everyone is the enemy in the first instance. Left broken and battered, Sasha is thrust into the path of Kjell, a meeting foretold, a fated love story, a destined happy ever after…remains to be seen. These two have a huge journey ahead of them, enemies to find, evil to banish and a kingdom to save. This was the slow burn to rival all slow burns. Forbidden, yet fated.

“Come with me and I will try to love you…”

I cannot say enough about this book, once again there are not enough superlatives that could do this book justice. A fantasy reader I am not, but an Amy Harmon fan…I most certainly am. No matter the genre, this authors voice is one that I can relate to, a voice that never fails to capture my attention implicitly, an author whose story telling abilities are unrivalled. Bewitched from beginning to end this is a series I will read time and time again and I hope that this is not the last that we will see of Jeru.
