Notice
by K. Webster
Publication Date: June 6, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Dark Romance, Suspense

Book Description:

I didn’t notice her before…but now I do.
The shiny strands of gold in her silky brown hair.
Tiny crinkles between her eyebrows when she frowns.
Her passion for neatness.

Once I focus on her, I can’t take my eyes from my newest obsession. Ever.
I need to know everything about her.
Her past. Her present.
The way she takes her coffee.
Exactly how she smells after a spritz of perfume in the mornings.

She’s perfect in every way and I was blind.
But, God, now do I see.

I notice the organized way she arranges her clothes in her closet.
How she visits the same market each Saturday.
The sounds of her breathing as I lie beneath her bed in silence.

Violet is mine.
She just doesn’t know it yet.

***WARNING***

Notice is a dark and unusual romance. Extreme sexual themes and violence in certain scenes, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to dark themes, then this story is not for you. If you aren't into super obsessive stalkers, then this story is not for you.

“Some things are better left locked up in the past. Some monsters belong there.”

K Webster does dark, her dark freaks me out but in the best possible way and knowing how deliciously sick and twisted she is I was surprised that this wasn’t as dark as I had anticipated. I was anticipating a creep fest, something that would make me shudder for all the wrong reasons and while there were definitely some of those moments they were not as plentiful as I thought. None the less, this was a definite page turner, enticingly edgy with just a little freak.

Grayson Maxwell, ex-sniper now business mogul…muscles and brains a deadly combination. However, Grayson was one-track minded, work, work, work, work. So focused he didn’t even know what his assistant of six years looked like until she handed in her notice. Grayson definitely has obsessive tendencies whether it be work or women and nothing and I mean nothing can detract him from what has caught his attention. It is all or nothing with him.

“She’s furious and I’m…curious.”

Violet was a woman on the run, hiding from her past, desperate to stay unseen, so her unusual relationship with her non-responsive boss was perfect…until it wasn’t. Undervalued and with many men in the workplace thinking it is their right to get “handsy” she has had enough and finds another job. It is at this juncture when her boss finally notices her.

“I see you, Violet,” he murmurs against my mouth, his teeth nipping at my bottom lip. “I see you.”

Despite the dark undertones and the many triggers for some I did find myself amused too and found myself chuckling at the most inopportune moments. I mean, it is a bit, pot kettle, when said stalker is condemning other stalkers while lying under the bed of the person you are stalking. Yes, at times the story was a little far-fetched but it is fiction and I just lapped up the story for what it was.

“There’s only room for one freak in her world. And I take up a lot of space.”

Grayson should have been a man I hated and yet, I just couldn’t. So much from his past has maketh the man he is today and his life has been far from plain sailing despite his success. Grayson was a man that did not understand half measures, it was literally all and over the top all or nothing. Grayson couldn’t differentiate between normal and obsessive, to him it was natural and all done with the best of intentions, hence the reason I could not hate him. He is possessive, intense, protective, totally over the top and yet has a heart of gold, he is just incredibly misunderstood. Grayson could definitely do with some therapy but I adored him for what he was.

Having Radiohead’s “Creep” on a constant loop in my head definitely added to the scene setting and with all the drama that these two go through the pages just turned until the end. The epilogue, total weirded me out, but coming from K Webster…I expected nothing less.
