Review ~ All I Am: Drew's Story (This Man #3.5) by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Book Description:

A NEW NOVELLA IN THE THIS MAN SERIES!

You don't need to read the series to enjoy this story. But if you're already a Jesse Ward fan, just wait until you see the advice he gives Drew about falling in love.

I thought I had control. I was so, so wrong...

I don't need a relationship. I have Hux, a decadent club where I quench whatever raw desire I choose. I take pleasure and I give it - no strings attached. So when Raya Rivers comes in asking for someone cold, emotionless, and filthy... well, no man ever takes his wicked pleasure quite the way I do.
Only Raya is different. Vulnerable. And carrying some deep sorrow that gets past all my carefully constructed walls and inexplicably makes me care. Now craving controls me. Ice has given way to red-hot need.
But Raya has no idea about my other life - my real life. That I'm daddy to an adorable little girl. My two worlds are about to collide with the force of a supernova. Once Raya knows the truth, will she be able to accept all I am?

Includes a special preview of THE FORBIDDEN, a standalone novel coming in August.

“Because if you don’t have anyone, you can’t lose anyone.”

The This Man Series is one of my favourites, so anything more in this series is like dessert and sometimes one is never enough. I do love a novella, they are fantastic for a fill in, quick read in between books and this one did just that. Sometimes though, they are never enough and just as quick as a story begins the end is all to imminent. Drew’s story was far from simple and in this case I would have loved a longer book. Drew was a fantastic character, but I wanted to know more, a lot more.

Drew is getting close to the big 4-0 and is the only one of his friends that hasn’t found the love of his life. However, he loves the single life, it suits him down to the ground and having had a bad experience with a woman in his past he is in no rush to ever put himself into that kind of situation ever again. Now that The Manor is closed for business, Drew takes his kink elsewhere and it is here that Mr Cold and Emotionless is a hot commodity.

“…this woman could be my downfall. Could make me forget who I am. All I am.”

Raya is a new client of “Hux” the kink club, another woman sworn off men but still has an itch to scratch. Raya wants no ties, unless they are of the kink variety and so she is paired with Drew.

“Something weird just happened.”
“Weird how?”
“I think I just made love to a woman.”

Jodi Ellen Malpas knows how to write a sex scene and this novella has them in plentiful supply. The chemistry is sizzling and palpable and just radiates off the pages. The heat between these two was perfect, no denying their connection in a physical sense but because their book was so short I was lacking that emotional connection. I wanted to believe in them, but all I could see was the sex. Don’t get me wrong, this is no slight to Jodi Ellen Malpas, what she crammed into this short story was perfection, this is me being greedy and as I said above, sometimes, a story needs a lot of chapters and I just felt Drew and Raya’s was one of them.

It was great to catch up with Jesse too, he does appear in this novella and every time his name appeared I just wanted to go back and read his story all over again.

“You’re pushing fifty, and the only reason you got out was because, by some miracle, you found a woman who could deal with your unreasonable arse.”

“I’m forty-six and I’m not unreasonable…I don’t know why everyone keeps harping on like I’m some crazy ape man who has no reason…I’m perfectly reasonable.”
