Damn, Faith Andrews damn near killed me with this book. Even though I did not read the synopsis with this one I had an idea where this book was going to go, and while I was right, the way to getting there was all wow, rather than predictable. Faith Andrews turns everything you thought you knew on its head and will have you questioning your own judge of character.
This book has everything I love reading in a romance, and every single one of my romantic bones was touched in one way or another. This was full of the deep and meaningfuls, a little suspense, a whole lotta heart, unrequited love, friends to lovers and a fantastic story. To say that I am itching for the next book is a huge understatement.
London is our heroine who has come to the end of her marriage and finds herself living back at home with her mum. London feels like her life has come full circle and she is back to where it all began with nothing to show for the last ten years of her life. A time for reflection and finding out where she went wrong amongst all the heartbreak. It takes London a while to find her feet, and with some BBF’s egging her on, she finally takes that step on putting herself out there again.
Bryce is London’s mum's doctor at the hospital and makes his presence felt for London’s affections. Then you have the BBF, Sam, who has waited on the sidelines for over a decade and damn, Faith Andrews tears your heart apart.
“Once you’re mine, you’ll be beaming because of me. You’ll beam so bright the fucking sun will be jealous.”
But this was so much more than a who will she choose. This was about life, family, the heart and the mind. The added suspense and intrigue, while on the periphery added a great dimension to this book and with how it ended I am only suspecting this side will get more exposure in the next book.
“I understand you need time, but just keep in mind . . . What you felt tonight? I’ve been feeling that for more than a decade.”
Loved the dialogue, loved the character connection and loved the characters as a whole. The pace was fantastic, and I found myself flicking those pages as fast as I could read. I’m now in dire need of the second book. London’s brother, Memphis has been an enigma thus far, and I cannot wait to see the change in dynamic he brings to the story. Bring on book 2.
