Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover

"Just goes to show that everything I do is Hopeless. F**king hopeless.

OMG, Colleen really pulled this one out the bag, always worried when it is the same story told from a different POV but in this book you got so much more. I didn’t think I could love Holder even more than I already did, but I do…..a lot!!

Hopeless painted him as some bad boy come good, but really he does not have a bad bone in his body, after reading his story in Losing Hope, you see what really happened and what he was going through at the time and it was highly emotional. I could never comprehend how I would feel if I found my sisters dead body, let alone a twin and he felt such responsibility for her death that it constantly ate away at him. He was going through hell.

The bits that I absolutely loved in this book were his journal entries, so honest, at times funny but extremely emotional and heartfelt. You could feel his pain, confusion, guilt and grief emanate from the page and you could not help but be moved. I was in tears so many times during this book I lost count. A truly genius way of writing the story from Holders POV.

Daniel, I loved Daniel…what a true friend he was to Holder. I highlighted like the whole book but this one just makes me chuckle every time I look at it so couldn’t not include it:-

Daniel: “Why do I keep instigating shit that risks f**king up this beautiful face of mine?” He grins and wipes the blood from his mouth a second time.

“I wouldn’t worry about it,” I say, laughing at how worried he always is about his looks. “You’re still prettier than me”

Daniel grins. “Thanks, babe,” he says teasingly.

Holder really needed his friends and a lot had deserted him, quick to talk behind his back and get the rumour mill turning, so for the few “true” friends that Holder had, they helped pull him through.

It was amazing to re-read the love story of Holder and Sky, it was a sense of de-ja-vu but with a lot more insight, you didn’t realise how taken and quite how obsessed Holder was, how he was constantly second guessing his gut feelings that Sky was Hope, telling himself that he just wanted it so bad to be true that he was imagining things. Until he saw the bracelet.

So unless she’s Hope, then she’s somehow wearing Les’s bracelet and I want to know why the hell she’s wearing it!

Unless she’s Hope

The truth hits me head-on and I think I’m about to be sick. No, no, no.”

…..”She’s Hope. Sky is Hope and Hope is Sky and, “Shit!””

“Les,

She still has your bracelet, though.

That has to mean something to you.

H”

At times it was heart wrenching, not only was Holder shouldering all the guilt for Les, he was also harbouring guilt still for Hope, lest we forget his tattoo “Hopeless”. We never appreciated how the press and Hope’s father barraged him when Hope initially went missing and he was blamed for her not being found as he had not spoken up. Cruel world!

And how romantic was Holder, amazingly so:-

“When I touch you, I’m touching you because I want to make you happy. When I kiss you, I’m kissing you because you have the most incredible mouth I’ve ever seen and you know I can’t not kiss it. And when I make love to you – I’m doing exactly that. I’m making love to you because I am in love with you. The negative feeling you’ve been associating with physical touch your whole life does not apply to me. It doesn’t apply to us. I’m touching you because I’m in love with you and for no other reason” I kiss her softly. “I love you”.

And melt…….

I can’t say enough about this book, and I don’t want to spoil it for everyone, so get in there, download and read, you will not be disappointed. Get comfy, get the tissues and just read, relax, enjoy and savour every word, because I know I did.

“F**k all the firsts, Sky. The only thing that matters to me with you are the forevers.”

Amazeballs book!
