Our Review:

Reviewed by Donna ~ 4 Stars

“I love you. I have always loved you. I have never stopped loving you. I will never stop loving you. You are the love of my life, you always have been, you always will be.”

Today was a sad day, I feel like I have lost some very close friends. It is always sad when a series comes to an end, especially one that has gripped at your heart strings and your emotions and has sucked you in. I feel like I have lived through this journey with Mia and Schooner, it has been emotional, it has been fraught with ups and downs, angst by the bucket load but in the end, true love won and that is one amazing moral to take away from this story. One of the things that I have loved the most about this series is that the characters were mid-life, I could relate to them in a big way. I love a second chance romance and Julie Richman truly delivered.

This book carries on from the last with Mia having gone into labour and Schooner still away with his other family. Mia being the stubborn woman that she is, had not told Schooner she was in labour so he was none the wiser a plane journey away. Thank God they have a great circle of friends and they intervened to get this warring couple back on the straight and narrow. Unfortunately, Mia still has issues, especially when it comes to Schooners ex, it takes a lot of honest from the heart talking from Schooner to get Mia to understand his feelings. These are feelings that have been there from the start and have never left, they are ingrained, that deep meaningful kind of love that never goes away, but has just flourished since they were reunited. Schooner is in deep, it just takes Mia a bit of soul searching to realise just how much.

I was glad to see CJ get her just desserts, a leopard doesn’t change their spots and karma is a bitch. I was glad that Schooner managed to finally rid himself of “CJ hell” with CJ gone, this left Schooner and Mia that breathing space to finally concentrate on themselves without having her lurking in the background and constantly being that bad smell that never dissipates. Zac does go some way to redeeming himself in this book. The relationship he has with Mia and Schooner’s son is beautiful and this may actually be the making of him. Once he saw his mum for what she truly was, we did see a different side to him.

I loved the Zambia story, this part was extremely emotive and I could see where the story was going. It was like Michael had brought them to this place to fulfil a loving and lasting memory and I was glad to read Schooner take this on board and be fully behind Mia’s wishes. This only made me love him more. He embraced the fact that Mia had once found love and when their back story came out to Schooner I was in tears.

“Your first and your last, Baby Girl. Your first and your last.”

There were so many great characters in this series and I know there is a spin off in the pipe line so hopefully that will lead to more Moore…I for one want to continue reading! Great job Julie Richman, this is one conclusion that was so perfect in so many ways!

About the Author:

I must've been 5 or 6 when I started writing "stories". I would write them and hide them. Not wanting anyone to see my "secret" thoughts. I needed to write -even back then. Now I'm just not hiding them anymore. Is that a sign of maturity? Nah ....

Writer, photographer, insatiable wanderluster, edge-player, foodie, music addict, pop culture fanatic, animal lover, warrior for the rights of people and planet, and avid cusser (am a Native New Yorker, so very little offends me ... and if I am offended, it must be pretty freaking bad .. like bad grammar!).

I am big believer in signs and if we keep ourselves open, there are guideposts all along the way. Stay humble. Be true. Be you.

Life is not a dress rehearsal ...
